Please help, my partner and I have finally managed to shorten our list to just three names, we are due our little girl in 5 weeks! Which name do you prefer, Evelyn, Freya or Nina?

Nina. There are Evelyns and Freyas EVERYWHERE.

MrsGilly1 · 01/09/2021 09:19

Evelyn Margot sounds beautiful 😍 xx

overtherainbo · 01/09/2021 09:30

Evelyn I think it's beautiful

user1493494961 · 01/09/2021 09:39

Freya.

Balonzette · 01/09/2021 10:28

100% Nina

Cbeebiesrehab · 01/09/2021 11:13

Evelyn Margot is beautiful! My daughters BC name is Evelyn and despite it being popular I’ve never actually met another and have actually met another of her (far less common) diminutive! It’s luck of the draw when it comes to these things I think.
Strongly dislike Freya, although it sounds like you’ve ruled that one out?
I do like Nina, although I like diminutives and Nina doesn’t have one which would put me off.

IsMaithLiomLeaba · 01/09/2021 11:24

My DD name is Nina, we get loads of compliments on it.

pastawithsauce · 01/09/2021 14:19

I have a Nina so am biased, but your other choices are also lovely! I don't know any Evelyns and only one Freya, so I don't think they're too popular. You can't go wrong.

Not as sure about Jennifer-Rose as a middle name, but no one uses middle names anyway and it's lovely to honor your family. Maybe Nina Margaret Jennifer? Nina Lynn Rose?

Excellent taste, OP.

pastawithsauce · 01/09/2021 14:23

(Oh and what an annoying comment about sirens! I've heard that on here too but my Nina has never gotten that -- I wonder if it's from the previous generation? Kids are kinder about teasing about names now in my experience anyway.)

annacondom · 01/09/2021 14:25

I knew a lovely French girl called Nina, so I'd pick that. It's fresh. Evelyn is OK but to me it's still old- fashioned. Freya is just a bit old hat but it's OK.

Pemba · 01/09/2021 14:26

I love Nina

I like Evelyn pronounced Eev-lin a lot, but the pronunciation you want, not so much.

Freya - nothing wrong with it but not mad keen.

So overall Nina.

HerRoyalRisesAgain · 01/09/2021 14:31

I'd go nina, but have Nina Rose Lynn

merrygorounds0 · 01/09/2021 14:33

Evelyn is lovely

MimiDaisy11 · 01/09/2021 15:00

Nina!
I like it. Simple, classic and not overused.

It’d be my first choice for a daughter’s name if I could use it

pastawithsauce · 01/09/2021 15:20

Just thought of another way to get Rose and Lynn in the full name -- Nina Rosalind? Lovely!

Givemethatknife · 02/09/2021 21:53

I love Evelyn Margot, both popular right now but for good reason - and their are so many variations on Evelyn you can go for what you like.

I am not mad on Nina as a full name, I think it’s a bit wet and undistinguished, though Ok as a nn for Anna (which is what it was originally) or for names like Janina. I think Nina Jennifer-Rose is also pretty clumpy.

FuckPilledLatteplus · 02/09/2021 21:55

Evelyn is so ugly and old-fashioned.

PinkCheetah · 02/09/2021 21:58

Nina has been my favourite girl name for years so yeah I'm biased.

DocAutumn · 02/09/2021 22:07

Evelyn is beautiful. Nina is lovely.

I wouldn't use Freya. I dislike it.

Autumnwithanaga · 02/09/2021 22:16

Nina is my favourite. Too many Freyas and Eve/Evie/Evas around as well.

Nina Jennifer Rose is a really great name.

PearlyRising · 02/09/2021 22:17

My favourite is Nina, love it.

DazzlePaintedBattlePants · 02/09/2021 22:22

Be warned that Nina is super popular - I know 7. If it’s your first, don’t fall into the trap of thinking it’s unusual because you don’t yet know any kids. Evelyn is also quite popular.

They’re all nice though.

Nicola999 · 03/09/2021 07:40

Thanks @pastawithsauce, I considered combining the names as people have suggested Rosalind and Roselyn but I just don’t particularly like either of those names unfortunately, although I do think it would flow better if there was just one middle name. Although I do love the name Evelyn, my mums and my middle name is Lynn, and I hate Lynn as a name by itself! But I think if I chose only one of the middle names, either my mum or my partners mum are likely to feel a bit hurt which I really don’t want to do! But I also take and fully agree with your point how often do we use our middle names anyway?

It seems from answers it’s pretty much a split between Evelyn and Nina!

Ignore your relative. 'Nee naw' - what a stupid comment.

Is your relative a five-year-old?

kissmelittleass · 03/09/2021 07:53

Evelyn is by far the perfect name
