Longer name for Tate?

I love Tate for a boy, but I feel like it may come off as a bit nickname-ish. I can't think of any longer name other than Tatum but don't love it. Thoughts?

My son is Tate and it felt a bit 'short' but it's grown on him and we wouldn't change it now :)

Tate is fine as it is.

Nathan and Nathaniel are completely different and shorten to Nat or Nathe.

I like the name Tate and it's a name on it's own. don't understand why people like a short name, only plan to use the short but then give their child a longer version of that name. It has never made sense to me.

Both my children have short names, both can be nn for other names but are standard names on their own too.

That's because a nickname is like a verbal hug. It's a mark of affection. Just because I use it doesn't mean I'd like everyone to use it, it's for friends and family.

And I like the flexibility of calling my children by either the full name or a range of nicknames. Just as I'm sure they'll enjoy the possibility of a formal name to use on formal occasions.

I'd snicker a bit (and feel sorry for them) if at an official event someone was introduced as Barbie or Toto. Whereas Barbara and Thomas would raise no eyebrows.

A nickname is a nickname, it has a function which is not the same as a real name. The current trend notwithstanding.

This is why there are a million kids currently called Harrison. Instead of just Harry or Henry that it is the proper nickname for

I really don't like the name Harrison.

I’ve taught a lot of teenage Harrisons and none of
them have gone by Harry. IME people who want Harry just use Harry.

Honestly I think Tate sounds fine by itself. It doesn't sound nickname-ish to me.

The name just makes me think of the Tate Gallery & Tate & Lylle Sugar. Which were are literally built from the proceeds of slavery. I wouldn't use it for that reason.
