Talitha is beautiful. Only issue is pronunciation as it's a relatively uncommon name. I've heard Ta -LEE -tha (with the emphasis on the middle syllable) - which I prefer since it then is less likely to be confused with Tabitha. But I think "Tally -tha" (like Tabitha with an L) is more well known/obvious unfortunately.

DramaAlpaca · 18/08/2021 21:33

I like it a lot. It's a rarely used biblical name. It's so much nicer than Tabitha, imo.

SE13Mummy · 18/08/2021 21:50

I think it's a lovely name and know two or three girls aged between 2 and 13 named Talitha. The eldest of those is often called Tilly by school friends and one of the younger ones goes by Tallie at the moment.

My only reservation would be that paired with Hannah and Louisa, that's a lot of 'uh' endings. Mary, Miriam, Rachel, Ruth, Naomi or Abigail are other Biblical names that might work well.

SionnachRua · 19/08/2021 01:12

Really dislike it, though I'd rank it above Tabitha for sure. I'm not sure why but it's always seemed slithery and snakelike to me.

Floralnomad · 19/08/2021 01:18

I like it and it’s much nicer than Tabitha however I agree with pp that it doesn’t run nicely with your other children’s names as there are to many ‘a’ endings . As a stand alone it’s lovely .

paddlingon · 19/08/2021 01:21

I like Talitha and Tabitha.

RainbowMum11 · 19/08/2021 01:51

It's Hebrew for Little girl (I know because my DM dog has the same name)

ElizabethTudor · 19/08/2021 02:06

Op @Livvielo it’s a beautiful name

@Amdone123

I quite like it. I love your girls' names, you've got good taste! I do love Tabitha though. Don't like Talia.
Thank you that’s very kind! Hannah and Louisa were picked by my OH though. I’ve been told a few times on here now that his taste is better than mine. Grin

Naomi is nice. Another one for the list I think! Thank you

Thank you for all the mixed opinions! I think I’m getting put off by the possible pronunciation issues- particularly when Hannah and Louisa do not have that issue!
I also agree with two many UH sounds.
That also rules out some of DH’s choices.
The non UH names he likes are:
Harriet and Florence.
The UH one he likes : Georgina.
I love some of the suggestions, especially Naomi (although I don’t like it if she ends up being called NAY or NY depending how you pronounce the name. I’ve heard both ways.
He did throw Emmeline into the mix earlier as well. I like this and would probably use the nickname Emmy.
Louisa is nicknamed Lulu. Hannah has a nickname not related to her name as it’s a hard one to nickname!

@Enough4me

How about Natalie (nn. Tally)?
I like this name. Is it dated though? Or classic?

IamnotwhouthinkIam · 19/08/2021 03:20

Oh and while I don't think another "uh" ending name is a problem personally, out of your other choices for some reason I really love Emmeline with your other daughters names. I think it's because they are then all slightly vintage style elaborations of more popular/common names: Anne (Hannah), Louise (Louisa), Emily (Emmeline) - a lovely sibset imo.

Amdone123 · 19/08/2021 04:03

Love Harriet, Georgina and Emmeline is gorgeous. He does have good taste!
I've always loved Natalie. I think it's a classic. Some will say it's dated but not in the same way as Gemma or Chloe. I especially like it spelt Nathalie.

Balonzette · 19/08/2021 05:55

@NewIdeasToday

Terrible made up American sounding name.
It's biblical! 😳
Shaktimother · 19/08/2021 06:33

It doesn't fit with the other girls names you have.
It would get shortened to Tally, which is more palatable though.

KidneyBeans · 19/08/2021 06:37

This thread is weird Confused
It's not an American name, it's not made up and it's not difficult to say

I know 2 OP. One in her 30s one who is a baby, never had any issues with pronunciation or spelling
Often shortened to Tali

KidneyBeans · 19/08/2021 06:39

@NewIdeasToday

Terrible made up American sounding name.
I especially love the confidence of posters who have absolute faith in their own ignorance. Remarkable! Grin
Iminaglasscaseofemotion · 19/08/2021 06:40

Thalia instead? Talitha doesn't sound right at all.

MerryMarigold · 19/08/2021 06:48

I like Florence south your other names. Do love Georgina but a mouthful with the other 2 names. I'd definitely go 2 syllables unless you use the nicknames as their 'known' names eg. Introducing people to your kids, writing cards from the family using all the names etc

minatrina · 19/08/2021 07:10

I've never heard this name but I think it's gorgeous!

RuthW · 19/08/2021 07:24

No. Your other children have such lovely classic names

peaceinourtime · 19/08/2021 13:44

I knew one in primary school, it was pronounced Talia. I presume it was spelt Talitha. Very pretty.

MintMatchmaker · 19/08/2021 13:49

Not keen, what about Alethea?

Lipsandlashes · 19/08/2021 13:53

I have a family member with this name. She must be 40 now. We always pronounced it Ta-lee-tha.
