Claudia?

Balonzette · 11/08/2021 10:33

Clara is poshest, although Sophie sounds best as a full name, flows very nicely!

eandz13 · 11/08/2021 10:34

Clara is poshest, I like the Claudia suggestion too

Notthisnotthat · 11/08/2021 10:35

Beatrice sounds poshest to me, there are lots of Claras in my area and it's a pretty normal area.

soupforbrains · 11/08/2021 10:37

I disagree, Clara is becoming quite common.

Beatrice is the poshest. but it's also the most pretentious. Why do you want a 'posh' name?

Bluntness100 · 11/08/2021 10:37

Clara for me too.

Atalune · 11/08/2021 10:38

Detest Winthrop as it really doesn’t flow out of ones cake hole very well.

Sophie Courthope-Boaz
Sophie Fitzgerald Moore
Sophie Bartholomew Scott
Sophie Carmichael Scott

I answered on your other thread.

MajesticWhine · 11/08/2021 10:50

I think Clara
Or if not - Beatrice
Sophie isn't that posh tbh

Papergirl1968 · 11/08/2021 10:53

I’d suggest Sophia rather than Sophie.
Or maybe Edwina.

Pinchoftums · 11/08/2021 10:54

Clara

MadeOfStarStuff · 11/08/2021 11:38

Thinking of the current royal family as the most posh, I can immediately think of a Beatrice and Sophie but not a Clara. But a royal baby born now and named Clara wouldn’t be surprising either.

dementedma · 11/08/2021 11:44

Clara. Never met one but know Sophie's and Bea's

BareVanilla · 11/08/2021 11:47

I don’t know how Clara is poshest. In all the plays I’ve read Clara us always the maid 🤣

Lyricallie · 11/08/2021 11:49

Depends where it's set too. Where I am in Scotland there's quite a few Clara's and Sophie's. I've never met a Beatrice, the only one I can think of is Princess Beatrice, so that's definitely posh.

NeverMetANiceOne · 11/08/2021 11:51

Clara is very middle class. Beatrice is the 'poshest' you've suggested. Grab a copy of Tattler and check the names in there?

Awwlookatmybabyspider · 11/08/2021 11:53

Clara Winthrop-Scott. I’d say anything with an Ah sound sounds very posh.
That of course is assuming it’s pronounced Cl-ah-ra and not Cl-Air-er

I’d say Chloe can have posh tendencies. However I’m not sure I’d cAll it Aristocratic.
Maybe more middle class.

Alexandra Winthrop-Scott. Again pronounced Alex-arn-dra not Alex-and-ra.

Louisa Winthrop-Scott.

Helena Winthrop-Scott.

Imogen but see Chloe

Isabella Winthrop-Scott

Catherine Winthrop -Scott

LtDansleg · 11/08/2021 11:58

Beatrice

BikeRunSki · 11/08/2021 12:15

Sophie

The very posh people I know tend to have pretty mainstream names.
Barbara if your character is an old lady.
Clara is - a lot of babies around my way, or the little sick girl from Heidi.

Noshowwithoutpunch · 11/08/2021 12:16

Clara

meadowbleu · 11/08/2021 12:18

I've seen a few of your threads on this topic OP, but no mention of the location or what period your play is set in?

Aristocratic type posh people usually go very traditional like Victoria, perhaps shortened to Vita, like the Sackvilles, or out there, like Zara Phillips, which was quite unexpected at the time,

Bbq1 · 11/08/2021 12:30

Winthrop is terrible. It doesn't sound pleasant spoken or look nice on a page
Arabella Montague-Forsythe

Pogostemon · 11/08/2021 12:34

Jemima is far posher than any of those.

PattyPan · 11/08/2021 12:37

Beatrice, like the princess. Sophie is a very standard name, not associated with a particular class.

Bagelsandbrie · 11/08/2021 12:39

Beatrice - shortened to “Bea”. I like Clara but I’ve heard of a few of them recently.
