Apart from Lennox Lewis, I’ve only ever heard it being used as a surname.

Lenny Henry’s name is Lenworth, not Lennox.

DramaAlpaca · 31/07/2021 18:49

I think of it as an American girls' name.

DentonsFringeArnottsWaistcoat · 31/07/2021 18:51

Quite nice. Lennox is a Shakespearean character in Macbeth and been used as a first name since a least the nineteenth century, so you could say it’s very traditional Wink

Disfordarkchocolate · 31/07/2021 19:07

Not at all. I like it, a strong name.

FreezeYourBrain · 31/07/2021 19:12

@AlmostSummer21

I'd be looking for a dog! Having said that, it's a million times better than Gareth
My friends dog was called Lennox 😂
MaMelon · 31/07/2021 19:15

It’s a Scottish name so you hear it up here. It’s quite nice - it’s pronounced LEN-icks.

Igneo · 31/07/2021 19:19

Makes me think of Yaxley-Lennon.

IggyAce · 31/07/2021 20:45

I wouldn’t raise an eyebrow, but then I work in a school so have heard all sorts of names.

omgthepain · 31/07/2021 20:49

@Candydreamer
You have to choose a name you love
And don't let other people influence it

I'm not a Lennox fan personally but that doesn't matter - it's your baby, the world would be a boring place if we all likes the same thing

drpet49 · 31/07/2021 20:52

I would think the parents were Annie Lennox fans

PlainJane1000 · 31/07/2021 20:52

I know a Lennox, gets called Lennox, I like it and personally don't think it's eyebrow raising.

Moonlaserbearwolf · 31/07/2021 21:03

I wouldn’t raise an eyebrow. I like it.

zoeydollie · 31/07/2021 21:04

Lennox sounds like a staffie to me...

Alonelonelylonersbadidea · 31/07/2021 21:05

Lennox is a great name and very Scottish! I've known a couple.
Lenny though is pretty awful IMO.

pigglepot · 31/07/2021 21:28

Really like Lennox and Lennie. Also keen on Lennon as a full name alternative.

LoveFall · 31/07/2021 21:41

Lennox is a brand of heating/air conditioning units in Canada and I think the US.

It would immediately conjure up this image for me.

LoveFall · 31/07/2021 21:42

Oops image didn't work. It is an old fashioned looking man with a cap on. Used by Lennox in their ads for years.

StrongCoffeeAvalanche · 31/07/2021 21:44

I wouldn't chose it personally but I do actually really like it! I prefer Lennox to Lenny. Not a fan of Gareth...

LoveFall · 31/07/2021 21:46

This is the image.

JaninaDuszejko · 31/07/2021 22:34

Lennox is a Shakespearean character in Macbeth

You'll be claiming MacDuff is a good first name next. The Lennox family were senior nobility in Scotland for centuries.

AlbertoFrogsMilkshake · 31/07/2021 23:18

My grandad’s first name, he died a few years ago but would have been in his 90s now. I wish that I had used it at least as a middle name for my DS. Before he retired he was general manager of a UK household name company, so not a name that I view as out there.

Cbeebiesrehab · 01/08/2021 15:28

I quite like Lennox. I really dislike Lenny though. I feel like Lennox could be quite a quirky and earthy name, especially paired with Ada, but Lenny is a bit Ronnie and Reggie for me. That being said, ie names are very popular for boys at the moment so I may be in the minority.

Candydreamer · 01/08/2021 16:54

Lenny for me would just be a nickname I think would probably get used!

DH is still not sold unfortunately...I feel like there is a possibility he is trying to hold out to name him after himself but I don't really like that! I want our son to have his own name

I have met a Lennox. Would be 6 now.

Its out there and did raise eyebrows. But not in a 'omg thats awful' way. Just in a oh that's interesting.

I like interesting

Cbeebiesrehab · 02/08/2021 08:41

Yes please don’t name him the same name as dad. It’s very confusing and you’ll have a Big John and Little John set up, post, doctors appointments. All a bit of a nightmare.
