Shay for a boys name?

What do we think of Shay for a boys name.

We love the sound of it and that it's not too common. Also has gaelic roots (my mums Irish) and means 'gift which is lovely

Other options would be Blake or Isaac.

His brother is Noah

Thanks ladies!

I think I am leaning towards Isaac too. Appreciate your input.

What's your thoughts on a middle name

I think Isaac Alexander sounds quite nice. It's a family name too

Shea is lovely

pilates · 30/07/2021 08:52

Isaac is much better

Chilldonaldchill · 30/07/2021 08:53

Isaac is much the nicest.
I really don't like Shay or Blake.

PattyPan · 30/07/2021 08:53

I don’t like Shay or Blake but Isaac is lovely and goes really well with Noah as they’re both biblical names. Isaac Alexander is great!

GiantToadstool · 30/07/2021 08:55

Isaac Alexander is really lovely. And goes well with Noah too.

Sssloou · 30/07/2021 09:01

Be careful with surnames - don’t call him Isaac if your surname is Cox.

Fanofcrisps · 30/07/2021 09:02

I've got a little cousin called Seamus. We've also got Irish routes. He gets Shay a lot. It's a lovely name

Cbeebiesrehab · 30/07/2021 09:09

Shay and Blake are very different styles to Noah. Isaac Alexander is much nicer.

NoddingTulip · 30/07/2021 09:15

Isaac Alexander is a lovely name and sounds good with Noah.

MaMelon · 30/07/2021 09:19

Isaac Alexander is a great name

emmathedilemma · 30/07/2021 11:39

Blake and Shay are common and not in a used a lot way.
This, they're in a different category for me to Noah and Isaac which are lovely together.

Synchrony · 30/07/2021 16:40

I know a tween Shay. I didn't like the name at first, but he's a lovely boy and it's grown on me. It suits him.

CatsArePeople · 30/07/2021 17:00

Assassin's Creed?

Suspicioussam · 01/08/2021 20:09

I love Shay. I like Shea even more but I imagine the pronunciation may cause issues.
I think it is such a cool name, the sort of name a teen would love to have. In terms of 'rough' comments, I really don't think that matters. I think it would be used by all parts of society which is a good thing.

Alwayswonderedwhy · 01/08/2021 20:13

It's a naughty boy name and I wouldn't expect a sibling of Noah to be called Shay. I'd put it in the same category as Jayden, Kai, Jaxon etc.

Fairyfalls · 01/08/2021 20:25

Shay is a great name. Sounds like a cool kid someone like a skater or surfer.

IamnotwhouthinkIam · 01/08/2021 20:45

Isaac works really well with Noah. Shea/Shay to me is a nn for Seamus, I also find the Shay spelling a bit feminine looking for some reason personally as well.

BorderlineHappy · 01/08/2021 20:54

Shay doesn't "go" with Noah.
Issac is gorgeous and you can imagine his brother is Noah

drumandthebass · 01/08/2021 20:57

NO

Holly60 · 01/08/2021 21:03

Isaac Alexander is lovely. Isaac is a lovely name and goes perfectly with Noah. Love it

StevieNix · 01/08/2021 21:07

Love it! It’s different but not crazy- it’s refreshing

WaitinginVain · 01/08/2021 21:48

I love Shay and did consider (or Seamus in full) for DS1, but am Irish. It's definitely not a name with "associations" Hmm.
Don't really like Blake or Isaac but agree Isaac goes best with Noah.

WaitinginVain · 01/08/2021 21:51

Isaac Alexander is fine.

LubaLuca · 01/08/2021 21:57

I knew a Chay. His parents were hippies.

I've only known Shea to be a surname, or a stadium.
