@Clear235
My DH and a friend call me Francesca & I really like it 🙂

SteveBuscemisRheumyEye · 03/07/2021 21:16

Lovely. Good, solid name.

CurlyhairedAssassin · 03/07/2021 21:20

Hmmmmm…round here it’s a name that makes me think of working class Catholic schoolboys, is often passed down as a family name, often shortened to Franny. (We’re in Scouse Land)

BounceyBumblebee · 03/07/2021 21:20

Great name, traditional and biblical, timeless.

daisypond · 03/07/2021 21:20

It’s fine but I’m not wild about it.
I love Frances for a girl, though.

CurlyhairedAssassin · 03/07/2021 21:21

Why are people bringing up Frances and Francesca? This is a question about the boy’s name, is it not? Confused

daisypond · 03/07/2021 21:22

Yes, Francis is only ever a boy’s name, never a girl’s.

Onlinedilema · 03/07/2021 21:27

I like it.

Missreginafalange · 03/07/2021 21:37

Whenever I hear Francis it makes me think of dirty dancing "nobody puts baby in the corner" Grin

blairresignationjam · 03/07/2021 21:39

I absolutely love it

GertrudePerkinsPaperyThing · 04/07/2021 00:55

I really like it, both Francis and Frances Smile

UnwantedOpinionBelow · 04/07/2021 01:08

I like it0!!

MadeOfStarStuff · 04/07/2021 12:11

I don’t like it, it feels a bit wet (like Louis)

But there’s nothing objectively wrong with it, it’s just personal taste

MarianneUnfaithful · 04/07/2021 12:48

Francis and Frank / Frankie, or when as a dramatic teen he calls himself Franco, all fine names.

Cbeebiesrehab · 04/07/2021 18:48

Don’t like Francis-I do quite like Frankie/Frank though.

Katefoster · 04/07/2021 18:54

Our LOs middle name will be Francis as ifs a family name from my husbands side. I like that it's unisex so if we don't have a boy Wel still be able to use it

Katefoster · 04/07/2021 18:55

Sorry I didn't answer your question. I do like it but more a middle name than a forstx

YellowandGreenToBeSeen · 04/07/2021 18:56

Really like the feminine. Not so keen on the masculine usage.

miltonj · 04/07/2021 19:00

I would go for frank but go for it if you like it!

Keepyourdistance000 · 04/07/2021 19:04

Francesca for a girl is lovely

Francis for a boy is ok but I hate the name Frank - reminds me of a creepy greasy colleague I worked with and also Frank Butcher.

stellarfox · 04/07/2021 21:24

I really don’t like it but I love Frank so would just use that!

mum2jakie · 04/07/2021 21:27

But that was Frances - girl's name.

This is Francis - boy's name. One of the reasons some people dislike this name is because people get them confused!

parttimedrifter · 04/07/2021 21:28

I love it! It was my great grandads name and I always wanted to use it if I had a boy but DH didn’t like it🙄

SallyAndI · 04/07/2021 21:33

I love it, we had it as a potential name but were also a bit worried about the fact that lots of people seem to think it's awful. It always reminds me of the older brother in Malcolm in the Middle.

@mum2jakie I know it was Frances the girls version but doesn't stop me thinking it Grin I actually do not dislike the name for either girl/boy version it's just what I think of when I hear the name. I have a name that is very well known and people often say oh "reminds of etc" so it wasn't a dig.
