I like all the names but drop the hyphen. '-Bea' doesn't work. Bea for one of the middle names, or maybe even Beatrice with one of the others as a middle name? But nothing-Bea. Sorry.

mummysparkles95 · 03/07/2021 07:37

I also like

Tillie-Bea
Daisy-Bea

Thanks xxx

If you're set on the -Bea then I think Amelia and Gracie work best out of your first list. The other two don't flow as well. Daisy works too.

I know it's important to you but I think you also need to be ok with the idea the -Bea will get dropped when she's at school. Kids names often get abbreviated.

AnyaMoondial · 03/07/2021 07:46

I can understand wanting to honour your nana of course, but I think -Bea is maybe going to sound like Bee as in bumble bee when people hear it (rather than see it written down) so Tillie-Bea might sound like a species of bee for example. Could you call her Bea or Beatrice nn Bea as a first name?

Beatrice Coline would be a fine name.

AnyaMoondial · 03/07/2021 07:50

Having said that I do think Daisy- Bea sounds extremely cute so maybe Daisy Beatrice Coline with Daisy-Bea as nn. I think that is lovely.

LongLiveGoblingKing · 03/07/2021 07:56

Mila is my favourite of your list, but on its own. -Bea doesn't work and will certainly get dropped.
Bea or Beatrice as a middle name would be lovely though.

cariadlet · 03/07/2021 07:58

I like almost all of your choices of first names (not keen on Mila) and also like Bea (or Beatrice). But I really dislike double barrelled first names. They have a Southern US, country music vibe.

Would you consider having 2 middle names instead, with Bea as the first of the middle names?

Palmatree · 03/07/2021 08:03

Agree with pp - drop the hyphen, just have two middle names. Sofia is lovely - very classic and would suit a grown woman too. Mila would be my second choice - nice, although a little trendy at the moment. I dislike Gracie, Tillie and Daisy - all a bit twee for me and only really suit a little girl. Amelia is very popular, if that bothers you, and I've never been keen on the 'mealy' sound.

Iwantcauliflowercheese · 03/07/2021 08:09

Bea sounds like an initial. Mila B for example. I think it would be very confusing. Use Beatrice as a first or second name.

jellybe · 03/07/2021 08:12

I think calling her Beatrice or Beatrix would be lovely after your nana then have the middle name for your dad.

Like others have said I don't think Bea works especially with the hyphen.

Jasmine11 · 03/07/2021 08:15

I love the name Beatrix on its own, so
why not Beatrix Coline? I'm afraid that a lot of people are quite judgemental about hyphenated names (me included!).

Ifixfastjets · 03/07/2021 08:38

Dd used to be friends with a Honey Bee.
They moved away. I agree with others, keep bea as a middle name. Or even have coline-bea as a middle name?

Chilldonaldchill · 03/07/2021 08:43

I would go for Daisy but I would lose the hyphen. Bea or Beatrice is a great middle name (along with Coline) and a gorgeous first name if you prefer it in that spot.

bubblebath62636 · 03/07/2021 08:47

I agree with pp, the hyphen just doesn't work.

Call her Beatrice! A lovely way to properly honour your relative.

Gloschick · 03/07/2021 08:48

I agree, drop the hyphen.

How about Daisy Bea Colette?

Chickoletta · 03/07/2021 08:51

I agree. Like the names but hate the hyphen. Was your gran actually a Beatrice? If so, I’d go with this, such a beautiful name.

TatianaBis · 03/07/2021 10:20

I agree with the B/Bee problem.

Beatrice nn Bea is such a lovely name and more interesting than the overused Sofia, Grace, Amelia etc that I would use it for her first name.

Also be aware that Coline means hill in French, so Colette or Coleen would be better.

Beatrice Colette is a fantastic name.

cariadlet · 03/07/2021 10:24

I agree with pp who suggested Beatrice Colette. Lovely combination.

Jabba2020 · 03/07/2021 10:30

Beatrix Coline is lovely.
Amelia-Bea is the best from your list.

chipsandgin · 03/07/2021 10:36

I’d agree with pps - just call her Bea (which could be short for Elizabeth, Phoebe, Beatrix/Beatrice), it’s a lovely name or nickname.

The something-Bea hyphenated name isn’t great & IMO the double barrel first name trend kind of came and went in the early 2000’s with all the Gracie-May, Lily-May girls that were born around then. If they are anything to go by she’d be likely to drop the Bea & stick with the first name at some point anyway (all the something-May girls I know have done by now..).

I agree that Beatrice Collette (but called Bea) is lovely too. Also sorry for your loss Flowers

RuthW · 03/07/2021 10:36

The best from you list is Sofia but please drop the hyphen.

If you like Bea why not use Beatrice or Beatrix as a first name. Both are lovely.

Scarletbutnotohara · 03/07/2021 11:40

My daughter has a friend in her class named Honey-Bea. Not my style but whatever floats your boat! Grin
How about Daisy-Beatrice, known as Daisy-Bea.
I would personally drop the hyphen and just have 2 middle names, Bea and Coline. Or go for Beatrice / Bea as a full first name.

hawkehurstgang · 03/07/2021 12:01

DEFINITELY lose the hyphen. Bea is gorgeous as a nickname for Beatrice, can't she just be Beatrice? Lovely, classy name. Your first names are all a bit overdone to be honest, and sound quite sickly and a bit naff paired with 'Bea', although if you lose the hyphen and change Bea to Beatrice they'd be much classier. I'd choose Daisy Beatrice from your suggested first names, but much prefer Beatrice Daisy. Or Matilda Beatrice, nickname Tilly Bea?

hawkehurstgang · 03/07/2021 12:04

Just seen Beatrice Collette suggestion, that's lovely 😍

Whatshouldicallme · 03/07/2021 12:06

I absolutely love Beatrice nn Bea and would use it myself if my husband would let me!!

I agree with others though, it doesn't work at all as a hyphen. I'd either use it as a first or a middle eg Sofia Bea Surname.
