Hi everyone,

We are expecting a little baby girl and we both love the name Chloe. We like fairly traditional names (have a little boy called Jack) we know Chloe used to be very/overly popular but it's far less used now, which should mean there's not 3 other Chloe's in the class :-)

Would love to hear some opinions!

Very dated and I dislike the 'Chl' sound, so not for me.

PumpkinKlNG · 26/06/2021 21:43

Lovely name

Wallabyone · 26/06/2021 21:44

I don't understand the dated comments-I don't think it's dated at all, just a solid name that is perfectly nice. I taught twins called Jack and Chloe.

AtomHeartMotherOfGod · 26/06/2021 21:45

I like the name - I know a couple of girls with it, aged about 7/8.

Ihaveaskedyouthrice · 26/06/2021 21:46

I love it, think it's really sweet.

DariaMorgendorffer · 26/06/2021 21:48

A lovely name

HairyToity · 26/06/2021 21:58

Lovely name.

Breadandbutterpudding85 · 26/06/2021 22:01

I love it so much

And like you say @lilyLl - it's about to fall out the top 50 names so is really underused these days. I don't know any under 10 which isn't surprising looking at the graphs

StillCalmX · 26/06/2021 22:02

I like it. Possibly prefer Zoë but you didnt ask me that!

amallierory · 26/06/2021 23:15

I don't see how it's dated? Yeah, it's not as popular as it was 10 or 15 years ago, but that makes it underused to me rather than dated. It's a lovely name. I know two little Chloes (aged 4 and 2) and I find it refreshing among all the Ivys, Avas, Amelies, etc.

Thank you everyone for the honest and lovely feedback Smile actually the response is better than we ever expected.

We're really happy to see some people saying it's a timeless name and refreshingly different in amongst the new wave of names, as that's exactly why we really like it, along with its elegance.

Thank you all once again. X

Love it.

HereWeGoAgain24 · 27/06/2021 07:54

Too common/popular for me.

Benjispruce3 · 27/06/2021 07:55

It’s beautiful. I work in primary and there are none at the moment. The last one left last year. Go for it.

gingerandproud4always · 27/06/2021 07:57

@ButItRingsAndIRise

The name Chloe is lovely, Richard and Judy have twins called Chloe and Jack though.
They aren't twins and also I can't see many people drawing that comparison
Spandrel · 27/06/2021 07:57

It’s also very ‘late 1990s’ for me.

Benjispruce3 · 27/06/2021 07:58

Chloe is a classic name, not 90s at all.

romdowa · 27/06/2021 08:04

It's short, pretty and timeless to me. It's the kind of name that grows with the child .

spookycookies · 27/06/2021 08:06

I like it but it is still in the top 40 girls names. Might be more popular than you think.

iduno · 27/06/2021 08:10

I have 2 friends with daughters called Chloe. 1 is 10 and the other is 6. It's def not popular though so u are unlikely to get another in her class etc. I think it's a lovely name.

My dh wanted Emily for our first born. I said no as it's too popular. There's 3 in her small nursery class and a nursery teacher Called Emily too 🙈

AliasGrape · 27/06/2021 08:23

These things are so regional though - on another thread everyone was saying how overused Theo is and I haven’t come across one as a teacher in over a decade and none amongst friends children or any of the baby groups I go to.

Lots here saying Chloe isn’t that common - I personally know 2 children called Chloe -one is 6, one is 2, and I have taught at least one most years for the last 5 or 6 years and there’s one in the baby sensory class we’ve been going to.

My daughter’s name is bottom of the top 100 but I’ve come across three more since she was born last year 🤷‍♀️

Sorry I’m going on a complete tangent!

It is a lovely name it does make me think of the 90s/00s now though that’s not necessarily a bad thing. Slightly less positive association is all the many Chloes on TOWIE but that’s on me for all the drivel I watch!

Benjispruce3 · 27/06/2021 08:24

Three Theos in my small primary!

Benjispruce3 · 27/06/2021 08:25

Florence is really popular too. 3 in one class!

sarah13xx · 27/06/2021 08:49

I’m a teacher and I’ve taught one 8 year old Chloe. I think the name is very unusual now though - haven’t heard of any babies called it. It goes nice with Jack

Groundedtraveller · 27/06/2021 08:54

Chloe's a lovely name, one of my favourites and has been for a long time (rare for me as my taste in names changes quickly!). Goes nicely with Jack too.
