Hi everyone!

We are torn on names and like both Owen and Westin for our baby boy. His last name will be Reed. Would like some opinions on which of the two names you guys prefer. Also open to any other names you guys think may sound good!

Thanks so much!

Owen

My husband's name is Owen and he loves it. It has also been the best name internationally and works everywhere. Definitely use Owen!

BikeRunSki · 20/06/2021 06:49

Owen, by far

LiberteEgaliteBeyonce · 20/06/2021 06:51

Westinn is a hotel chain, I wouldn't use Westin as a name unless you don't mind people asking you if the baby was named after where he was conceived!
I like Owen.

flightofthecrow · 20/06/2021 06:56

I love Owen. One of my choices but dc turned out to be a DD

ILoveStickers · 20/06/2021 06:58

Definitely Owen (I also love the spelling Eoin, but I get that that's not for everyone).

Violetlavenders · 20/06/2021 07:05

I actually prefer Westin.

MrsUnderkracker · 20/06/2021 07:07

My sons best friend is called Owen .

He's a little sweetheart and such a lovely boy.

Based on that I give a thumbs up for Owen !

CeeceeBloomingdale · 20/06/2021 07:08

Owen. Westin also makes me think of the hotel chain, Westin Reed is similar to Paris Hilton for me.

iminthegarden · 20/06/2021 07:08

Don't go with the hotel chain and probably not Owen unless you are Welsh. I know it shouldn't matter but Owen is a strong Welsh name and if he's not seek SH then it may be weird

cariadlet · 20/06/2021 07:10

Owen (mainly because it's the one that seems like a proper name).

AnyaMoondial · 20/06/2021 07:26

Owen. I love it.

AprilAzpilicueta · 20/06/2021 07:37

Owen

DoingItMyself · 20/06/2021 07:55

Owen is a common name, not just Welsh. It's a good name.

Westin, no. No.

BikeRunSki · 20/06/2021 08:32

Owen, of that spelling, is well established as a name outside Wales.

Owain would be “too Welsh” for a non Welsh family.

shreddednips · 20/06/2021 08:50

Owen definitely, it's lovely!

Posieandpip · 20/06/2021 09:46

Westin!? Definitely not Westin. Did you make it up? Owen is nicer for sure.

MrsFin · 20/06/2021 09:47

Owen. Westin is not a name, spell check doesn't like it, apparently it's a hotel, and it's just awful anyway.

Posieandpip · 20/06/2021 09:48

Also, I know several Owens, none of whom are Welsh Confused

Wolfiefan · 20/06/2021 09:51

Owen. Definitely not Westin.

Dualipasuction · 20/06/2021 09:55

Owen by far. West In Reed sounds like a rather poor novel.

converseandjeans · 20/06/2021 10:00

Owen. Westin Reed sounds strange to me.

RaininSummer · 20/06/2021 10:06

Definitely Owen.

Spied · 20/06/2021 10:12

Owen is a million times better than your alternative.

CaffiSaliMali · 20/06/2021 11:12

I know several non-Welsh Owens. It's on my list as a 'safe' Welsh name but low down as it's used so commonly outside of Wales that it no longer feels like it would register as Welsh. It's not in the same level of Welshness as Llŷr, Euryn or Siôr for example.

Owen is much nicer than Westin or Weston. It also goes with your surname.
