Hello! I’ve been scouring the lists of baby names, but wondered (for those of you who know lots of children aged around 0-5 today), what are the most popular boy’s names that you’re seeing?

Alfie, Archie, Henry, George and Noah seem to be pretty popular... I know Oliver has been top of the boys' names list for a few years but strangely I only know of one who is in the under 5 age group.

Thanks everyone! What ages are the Georges you typically know, out of interest?

Literally newborn to 99! It's always been a common name I think, due to the monarchy and the patron saint of England!
MaryBoBary · 11/06/2021 20:02

George, Henry, Thomas/Tommy

MaryBoBary · 11/06/2021 20:02

Oh abs Oscar and Rupert too.

MaryBoBary · 11/06/2021 20:03

I know various George's from 11, lots around 4/5 and a few 2 and younger.

I agree with the previous poster, I know several George's born this year, and just as many who are 90-100.

It's a popular name, but not a trendy name that will date, like Arlo.

bigbeatmanifesto · 11/06/2021 20:06

Arlo, Leo, Mason, Teddy, Freddie, Miller.

MaggieFS · 11/06/2021 20:06

Max, Max and another Max.

Also Alf/ie and Oscar.

purplejungle · 11/06/2021 20:07

Noah and Henry

SaffieSoph · 11/06/2021 21:05

Theo and/or Teddy. I can’t understand how it’s not number one - I know 5 in total and two more friends have said they’re thinking of using it!
It’s a lovely name though!

Arniepie · 11/06/2021 21:06

Arlo, Albie, Tommy, Freddie, Teddy, Leo

21Flora · 11/06/2021 21:07

Lots of Arlo’s in current baby classes, two in our swimming class, a couple across other groups and classes.

CherryonBiscuit · 11/06/2021 21:10

Arlo Hunter and Roman have been the fastest rising boy names the past few years

In terms of if George or any other name is popular / rising / falling
@kat0107 I expect the answer to your question is far better answered on the Dark Greener website which uses the official ONS figures.

Here's the link for George below. I'd use this link rather than asking us if George is increasingly in popularity or not. The graph answers what we can't:

I work in a 3 form entry primary school, reception class; for us Ronnie/Ronald, George, Archie and Chase are the names of more than one child in each class this year. Jacob and Harry popular in the years above. Halll

Thanks @CherryonBiscuit - I was wondering whether things had changed much over the past 18 months (as the data on ONS only goes up to 2019), and it seems like there are a few names that have moved up or down quite a bit since then!
