Ana-STAY-zia
Ana-STAH-zia
Ana-STAY-zha
Ana-STAH-zha

Which one are you going for?

FolornLawn · 25/05/2021 12:02

For me it's like Lucia, v pretty but the lack of a single pronunciation would drive me a bit mad.

SleepingStandingUp · 25/05/2021 12:05

Love it.
Anastasia and Tatiana, my fantasy twin daughters (my actual twins are boys)

ElmtreeMama · 25/05/2021 12:09

@FolornLawn

Ana-STAY-zia Ana-STAH-zia Ana-STAY-zha Ana-STAH-zha

Which one are you going for?

Ana-stay-zha or Ana-stay-zia, I wouldnt mind if people mixed those two up, it hadn't occurred to me people might use the stah pronunciation tbh!

Tatiana is very pretty

TatianaBis · 25/05/2021 12:38

I agree Tatiana rocks Wine

TatianaBis · 25/05/2021 12:41

Oksana
Zosia (prn Zosha) diminutive of Zofia
Dasha dim of Daria
Angelica

Stockholmvillage · 25/05/2021 14:09

I like it a lot ♥️

DramaAlpaca · 25/05/2021 14:12

It's a very pretty name, but not my style - much too frilly.

Nualay · 25/05/2021 14:13

I LOVE it with the Ana-stay-zia pronunciation

Orphlids · 25/05/2021 14:21

I love it. In fact, I think each of the different pronunciations is lovely, so i wouldn’t be too worried about people getting it wrong. I imagine Anastasia would be rather an exciting, intelligent, well-read woman who has a dark sense of humour. And it’s cute for a little one, too.

I love that description Makes me love the name even more :)

I think it's a beautiful name. To me, the different pronunciations are just people's accents rather than a real difference like Eve-lyn/Evlin.

HighlandCowbag · 25/05/2021 16:45

I love it OP, I also love Anoushka (sorry not sure how it's spelt) and Natalia and Natasha. And Francesca.

FurrySlipperBoots · 25/05/2021 16:48

I love it but it's thoroughly 'Russian', so I think you'd need Russian Ancestry or live there for it to really work.

CatsPyjama · 25/05/2021 16:48

It’s lovely and something different among all the Evie’s/Lily’s/Amelias/Evas/Evelyns

MadMadMadamMim · 25/05/2021 16:51

Honestly, unless you are Russian I wouldn't. And even then, both Anastasia and Tatiana are names of the murdered Romanov daughters so I probably wouldn't because of the unhappy connotations.

Dinosaursdontgrowontrees · 25/05/2021 16:54

I love it!
I would pronounce it Ana stay zia.

DotDotDotDotDot · 25/05/2021 16:55

I love this name, it was my fantasy name that I wished my parents had given me when I was about 10 years old - I think she was a character from a book I read! I always thought it was the Ana-stay-Zia pronunciation but I prefer Ana-sta-see-ya pronunciation now, which I hear more often from my Colleagues (Romanian/Bulgarian).

Given the number of women murdered annually and throughout history you'd be hard pressed to find a name of a woman who hasn't been murdered at some point.

Those names are sufficiently popular in E. Europe (and Greece) that they're not principally associated with the Romanovs.

It's also popular in Greece.
partyatthepalace · 25/05/2021 20:57

I quite like it - it will get shortened though! (The two I know are Ana and Zia). So I wouldn’t worry too much about pronunciation.

Anoushka, Rosaria, Seraphina, Sanchia, Tamara, Leonora

Suzi888 · 25/05/2021 21:01

I like it too, almost chose for DD. But 50 shades spoiled it for me.

MorriseysGladioli · 25/05/2021 21:04

I love it.
Saskia, too. Is that similar?

Rattysparklebum · 25/05/2021 21:25

My DDIL is named Anastasia (born in Ukraine), she is never called anything other than Ana and has to constantly correct people who spell it Anna.
