Honor Gianna 'Gigi'

She would predominantly be known as Gigi. Will I cause her problems by calling her by her middle name? I don't want Gigi on it's own as it doesn't seem like a proper name and Honor looks and sounds better with her sibling who is Hugo. Am I going to cause her a lifetime of confusion? Other possible name is India.

Gigi is a real name though - why make this harder than it has to be ? Just call her what you intend to call her.

Seriously, Gianna is not pronounced gee- anything. GI makes a J sound, not Jee, so it sounds like Janna. It only has two syllables. Similarly, Gianni and Giorgio are Janni and Jorjo.
The Italian Gi is not the same as the English J sound. It's also not the same as Gee. This is a good reason why using names from other languages rarely works in English

I like Gigi a lot, but giving it to her as a middle name because 'Honor sounds better with Hugo' isn't a good reason. People tend to use middle names if their first name is a family name so others in the household are known by it. I would go for Gianna as her first name, Gigi is fine as a nickname as that is traditionally its origin anyway - my understanding is it is traditionally short for Genevieve.

If you want her to be known as her middle name why not just use that as her first name? I think you're setting up a lot of confusion in the future.

Agree - proper pronunciation would be Janna. Gigi is pretty though

English J does not sound like Italian Gi.

It’s hard to transcribe the pronunciation completely accurately. It’s quite subtle - I would say much closer to Janna than Jee-Anna. Somewhere in between.

Yes. I can hear it as I know several Giansomethings, a Giovanni and a Giulia.
