Would you go for Audrey, Lydia or Zara? Or something completely different? What do you think of if you heard this as a name for a friend or relative's baby?

Due in June so sometime to go but DH and I are not moving anywhere fast on names!

Lydia or Zara.probably Zara as I know quite a few 'Lyd"s which I don't really like

Edenember · 27/04/2021 15:30

Probably Zara.

NannyR · 27/04/2021 15:32

Lydia or Zara - Audrey still has too many old lady connotations for me.

halcyondays · 27/04/2021 15:33

Lydia or Zara

WantingAnother · 27/04/2021 15:34

Awww I really like Audrey!

Bancha · 27/04/2021 15:34

Lydia or Audrey. I don’t love Zara.

MsTSwift · 27/04/2021 15:35

They are all really nice - so no help really!

@WantingAnother

Awww I really like Audrey!
Thanks! I think Audrey is a bit marmite, I think it sounds quite a cool name but I know a lot associate with older women / Corrie Grin

Audrey 😍

TheRedFox · 27/04/2021 17:17

They're all quite different. This is what they each conjure up for me:

Lydia - classic, non dating elegant name which isn't overly popular (a good thing IMO)

Zara - really like this and one we thought about but just couldn't get over the clothes shops.

Audrey - too much of a granny vintage name for me so (a) not to my taste and (b) more likely to date I think.

Good luck!

Blondiney · 27/04/2021 17:24

Lydia - used to adore it but there's a horrendous YouTuber/'Influencer' named Lydia Elise Millen who completely ruined it for me. Doubtful that the majority has that unfortunate association though. Grin

Zara - too synonymous with the fashion brand.

Audrey - my winner by default.

Hangingtrousers · 27/04/2021 17:28

I have a Lydia. I love it!
She gets called Lyd or Lyddy. :)

VenusClapTrap · 27/04/2021 17:37

I have an Audrey. I’ve never watched Coronation Street so that wasn’t an association for us. People often say “Oh, after Audrey Hepburn? So elegant” and I think that’s a very common association. I like it because to me it’s strong, grown up, international, easily spelt and pronounced. And classy!

Awwlookatmybabyspider · 27/04/2021 18:22

Zara

Flymetothestars · 27/04/2021 18:42

Audrey is my favourite - an excellent choice
Love Zara too
Lydia sounds a bit too much like chlamydia to me

Ellmau · 27/04/2021 18:46

Lydia is the prettiest, Zara is cool. Audrey is a bit dowdy.

DramaAlpaca · 27/04/2021 22:29

All nice, but my favourite is Zara.

IamnotwhouthinkIam · 27/04/2021 23:37

All lovely in their own way, but Lydia feels the "safest" to me - the most classic choice as well as elegant and pretty. Audrey is retro/vintage cool and Zara has a beautiful more modern feel (but I'm less sure about how well they will age - Lydia is slightly more timeless imo) .

annaboo2 · 28/04/2021 02:05

Much prefer Audrey. Zara isn’t bad but I too thought of the clothing brand. Lydia is edging into overly popular territory especially in the US but here also. May not be an issue depending where you live but I know a few young Lydias and see it often on the different baby forums.

Tavannach · 28/04/2021 02:06

Zara

indiakulfi · 28/04/2021 04:10

Audrey. Classic and timeless.

MercyBodle · 28/04/2021 04:43

This is so hard - all 3 names are really good. Does any of them sound better with the surname? I think Audrey is my favourite. But it's very close.

OloBo · 28/04/2021 07:27

Lydia

YoniAndGuy · 28/04/2021 14:18

Lid is a terrible nn, so Zara.
