Full name for Bobbie?

I really love the girls name Bobbie but worry it's a bit too much of a nickname to give as a full name (although is it really much different to names like Annie and Katie which both started out as nicknames?!)

If we wanted a longer name are there any others apart from the obvious Roberta and the less obvious Barbara(!) and Robyn?

The adult Bobbie I know is actually called Elizabeth. Not sure if it's a valid nickname derived from Elizabeth or more of just a pet/family name.
Come to think of it I also know a Polly who's real name is Elizabeth Confused

Bobbie could theoretically work for anything with a strong B sound in it. The issue with having Bathsheba/Rebecca etc with Bobbie as nickname is there is no guarantee it will stick, and she may choose the long form rather than Bobbie. Depending on your surname you could also have BOB initials to get Bobbie. Again contrived, but another option.

ICouldHaveCheckedFirst · 14/04/2021 21:53

Roberta.

HoldontoOneMoreDay · 14/04/2021 21:54

I think if you love the name, then use the name. I don't understand contriving nn's or shorts - just call the DC the name you like!

ICouldHaveCheckedFirst · 14/04/2021 21:55

What I mean is, that's the only name I can think of which would be shortened to Bobbie.

Aquamarine1029 · 14/04/2021 21:57

Robina is an option.

KoalaOok · 14/04/2021 21:58

I'd just use Bobbie or Roberta. Otherwise people aren't going to naturally shorten it.

DotDotDotDotDot · 14/04/2021 21:58

I can’t think of any longer versions than those you already mentioned. I really like Bobbie for a girl though it’s so cute. Maybe you could choose a more formal middle name to balance it out though. Good luck.

Is Bobbette a name?

Totally agree!

Never understood why people feel the need to give a name that they have no intention of using.

ILoveShula · 14/04/2021 22:12

Bobbyanne?

HairyToity · 14/04/2021 22:20

The Bobbie at my children's school is a Robyn. Not that Robyn is ever used.

May2021Mummy · 14/04/2021 22:21

I have a friend called Bobbie she loves it and it isn't short for anything

Hotcuppatea · 14/04/2021 22:21

I used to know an Elizabeth who had Bob as a nickname.

Lettitbee · 14/04/2021 22:22

Robina

KoalaOok · 14/04/2021 22:24

Bobby-Anne might work?

HunterHearstHelmsley · 14/04/2021 22:36

Bobsicle.

Or just Bobbie.

FanPanCan · 14/04/2021 22:39

I knew a Bobby called Robyn.

SavannahLands · 14/04/2021 22:40

Bobbie-jo, l cannot remember the singer, but it was once in the charts when l was a kid!

I used to work with someone called Bobbie, but her real name was Barbara. I have also known Bobbie to be used by someone at school who’s name was Babette, but she hated it!

Kollamoolitumarellipawkyrollo · 14/04/2021 22:41

I completely disagree with pps saying give the name you like. I think it kinder to give a child options when it is so clearly a diminutive (and more commonly known for males). It doesn’t cost more to put a full name on a bc. You can pick a full name and always call her Bobbie. You get a name you like and she gets a name that has a little more flexibility.
