Roisin, Rosie or Rosa

Hi
Im due a girl in a month and favourite name is Rosie.
However I think it could be a bit twee/princessy for a grown woman, so thinking of either Rosa or Roisin as full name.

I don't love Rosa or Roisin though.

Also would people struggle with pronunciation of Roisin? It is pronounced (Ro-sheen), but would people read it as Roy-sin in England?!
My partner is Irish so I know there's supposed to be a fada on it, but don't know how to add on phone! My son already has a straightforward Irish name, so it would fit fine.
What do you think? Just go with Rosie?!

Róisín is a lovely name. Agree I would pronounce it Roe-sheen. But all the Rose forms are nice too

Also, forgot to add that the Róisíns I know from Donegal Gaeltacht areas are very much Rosh-eens! Roe-sheen isn't universal.

I would go with Rose and then call her Rosie at home.
If she wants a less girlie name as an adult Rose is fine.
I'm Irish so have no problem with Roisín, you just keep your finger on the letter by the way and multiple options come up fadas included
But Rosie is not a common nickname for Roisín so if that's what your aiming for I'd stick to Rose.

Rosa or Roseanne. Roisin is ok. Rosie is twee, in the same vein as Poppy, Daisy etc.

I don't think Rosie is a natural short for Roisin.

There are lots of Rose names you could have Rosie short for.

Roseanne/Roseanna/Rosanne/Rosanna
Rose
Rosa
Rosalie
Rosemary

Rosalind/Rosamund/Rosaline are all lovely too but more of a Ros than Rose sound for shortening.

Róise pronounced Rho sha might be another Irish one to consider. I’m only saying it because I adore it.

They are both lovely. I like Rosa slightly more than Rosalie. Her surname might have a bearing on which name sounds better with it.
You can still use Rosie as a nickname for her if you want to.

Rosie does sound slightly cutesy to me as a given name, sorry. I like classic Rose best (with the nn Rosie if wanted) but Rosa, Rosalie, and Rosanna are all nice too. While I like Roisin, Rosalind and Rosamund, their usual pronunciation seems a bit further from the "rose" sound to get the nn Rosie, if that matters.

I also love Róise (Rosha) although the one I know is nicknamed Rosie

I agree Rosalind is lovely and has lots of short variations

I think they're lovely names, our DD is due in May and she will be named Rosalía (Rosa-lee-ah). OH is Mexican and we think it is a beautiful, classic and lesser heard of (as far as I know)
