I think a one syllable name goes best. Elliot Jay is nice to my ears but names are so personal. I like Elliot. It sounds kind but not wet.

WhatWouldPhyllisCraneDo · 29/03/2021 21:56

I wanted to call DS2 Elliot James but it was vetoed. Actually the only Elliot I do know is Elliot James so I'll suggest James.

DramaAlpaca · 29/03/2021 21:58

I was going to suggest James too.

I'd also use the spelling Elliot as the previous posters have, as that's the usual spelling for a first name. Elliott tends to be the surname.

I cames here to suggest James... How funny!

Aalvarino · 29/03/2021 22:03

Okay well I will extend Jay to James and then we have a full house. Job done OP :) ... A rare show of agreement on the MN baby name boards...

Iloveliberty · 29/03/2021 22:05

My second child was going to be Elliot James, but turned out to be a girl ! 20 years later I still absolutely love the name 😊

Mammabearhudson · 29/03/2021 22:12

I wasn't sure if the s in James didn't sound right with the s in Hudson, our last name. Elliott James Hudson.

I think Elliot James Hudson is a lovely name. I have an Elliot and he has a longer name but it’s a family one. Like others have said I would go for Elliot with two Ls and one T as that’s the more usual spelling for the UK. The double T one is more of a surname in this country. Lovely name though.

CakesOfVersailles · 29/03/2021 22:22

I like James. Or how about:

William, Jacob, Andrew or Christopher?

Or alternatively you could use a family name e.g. a grandfather, uncle etc.

Mammabearhudson · 29/03/2021 22:25

Our top contenders for traditional names are James and Alexander however we're unsure if we should go for something more modern for our 2021 baby. We were thinking about Raine or Heath for the more modern middle names.

ginandgingers92 · 29/03/2021 22:32

My first thought was James; clearly not alone haha
I also like Elliot Ivan though

TigerDragonMonkey · 29/03/2021 22:34

My Elliott is Elliott James too 😂. We picked James for a family link though.

TigerDragonMonkey · 29/03/2021 22:40

And double ‘t’ is fine, go with whatever you prefer! When we registered our son’s birth the registrar was very happy we were spelling it ‘properly’ in her opinion 😂.

WalkingMeAway · 29/03/2021 22:43

I'm due a son and he will be called Elliot James Grin

DramaAlpaca · 29/03/2021 22:45

Heath is fine and sounds good.

I see Raine as a girls' name so wouldn't be keen on that.

TheFairyCaravan · 29/03/2021 22:47

My Elliot is Elliot James.

Margo34 · 29/03/2021 22:55

I also came here to suggest Elliot James, how funny! If mine had been a boy, that would've been their name.

OloBo · 30/03/2021 02:03

Another James vote.

Stevearnottsbeard · 30/03/2021 19:14

I seem to be the odd one out, my first thought was Elliot George 🙈 but really do like Elliot james

looloo247 · 30/03/2021 19:26

I was also going to suggest Elliot James!

I don't think you need to worry about it not sounding modern. It doesn't sound very old fashioned.
