We really love both spellings but can’t decide which one we love more. Middle name Dahlia.

Astrid, to save her from a life of saying “no, it’s spelt...”

Borogroves · 09/03/2021 18:00

Astrid

Rootsmanouvre · 09/03/2021 18:00

Astrid

PatchworkElmer · 09/03/2021 18:01

Astrid, by a million miles.

purpleme12 · 09/03/2021 18:04

Astrid
There's really no need to change that spelling
It's an unusual name with the normal spelling

IamnotwhouthinkIam · 09/03/2021 18:05

Unless that alternative is the norm where you live, then stick with Astrid - no point having to constantly spell out her name if she doesn't have to. Astrid Dahlia is lovely.

LizzieAnt · 09/03/2021 18:18

Astrid, without a doubt.

skeggycaggy · 09/03/2021 18:22

I’ve never seen Astryd before, and my phone auto corrects to Astrid. I would definitely stick with the standard spelling else you/she will be constantly correcting people.

BeingATwatItsABingThing · 09/03/2021 18:23

Agree with all PPs. Astrid.

Abracadabra12345 · 09/03/2021 18:23

Astrid

midsomermurderess · 09/03/2021 18:24

The first one looks like it should be pronounced 'astride'. That could be unfortunate.

ScottishStottie · 09/03/2021 18:25

Astrid definitely. Astryd looks like a made up spelling to try and be 'unique' which isnt needed for a fairly unusual name.

FlyingByTheSeatof · 09/03/2021 18:31

Astryd is not how Astrid is spelled so as not to look like complete idiots go for the correct spelling of Astrid

ShutUpAlex · 09/03/2021 18:39

There’s no need to be so rude. Both spellings are in our baby name book.

Astrid.
Astryd looks like you made a mistake.

Crewtshirt · 09/03/2021 19:11

You did ask - i agree the y version comes across as a bit try hard to be different.

partyatthepalace · 09/03/2021 20:47

Astrid.

I’d treat your name book with caution, have never heard of Astryd... but I wouldn’t use it, looks try hard and will annoy her for life.

HummusAndCarrotSticks · 09/03/2021 20:48

I prefer Astrid.

Phoebesgift · 09/03/2021 20:50

Astrid. Is it also a brand of moisturiser? I may have imagined that!

HummusAndCarrotSticks · 09/03/2021 20:52

I think you might mean Astral Cream! My mum swore by this and she did look amazing for her age. But that isn't relevant to the thread sorry.

That was to @Phoebesgift btw, not you op!
LadyMonicaBaddingham · 09/03/2021 20:53

@Phoebesgift That's Astral, lol

skeggycaggy · 09/03/2021 20:53

Astryd doesn’t appear at all on the Darkergreener baby name app (which means that fewer than 3 babies have been given the name IIRC). Astrid is on it, up to 316th most popular name.

BumpLoading · 10/03/2021 14:45

Agree with pp I'd spell it with an i
Astrid Dahlia is a beautiful name!

Baby name books aren't always reliable. Astrid is fine, Astryd looks wrong.
