Rebecca?

Dated or classic? I already have a Francesca, and Evelyn and a Theodore. Want something 3 syllable and easily shortened. I love the book. Not bothered by biblical reference. Does it go with the other names? Evelyn and Theodore both still go with their full names- so I don’t think she’s automatically be a Becky...which I don’t love, but could live with. Becca’s a bit better. If not Rebecca then what?

Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
Wondermule · 06/03/2021 19:03

I like it, but it does have a very 90s vibe. How about Jessica?

Marlena1 · 06/03/2021 19:03

I love Rebecca, I think it's timeless.

Paperyfish · 06/03/2021 19:04

I grew near soham so jessica still has strong associations for me I’m afraid.

I don't like it and I find it very dated. I went to school with a lot of girls called Rebecca/Becky, so that's probably why!

Wondermule · 06/03/2021 19:08

@Paperyfish

I grew near soham so jessica still has strong associations for me I’m afraid.
Oh Sad my other suggestions are Jennifer or Caroline.
CoffeeRunner · 06/03/2021 19:10

I absolutely love Rebecca. I also went to school with quite a few, but that was the 80’s. It’s much less common in young girls now.

Other suggestions;

Natalie/Natalia
Tallulah
Melissa
Charlotte - I really don’t like Lottie, but you may do 😂.

CoffeeRunner · 06/03/2021 19:13

Also Eleanor. Although you might find that a bit samey with Evelyn. Could potentially have an Evie & Ellie later on in life.

2Sangrias · 06/03/2021 19:14

It’s lovely, but I just cannot stand Becky, Bex, Beck etc. So it’s a no from me.

scrivette · 06/03/2021 19:14

I think it's a timeless name, I know a couple of young Rebecca's and I know of two Rebecca's that have never been Becky.

I think they go well with your other children's names too.

ValpolicellaPrimitivo · 06/03/2021 19:16

I don't mind it but I personally don't like Becky.

Oh, meridith’s rather nice. I like Jennifer- but not with our surname. Andrea’s nice too.

ElderMillennial · 06/03/2021 19:24

I think it's a classic

Starsandglitter · 06/03/2021 19:32

I must admit I do find Rebecca a little bit boring. I think I’ve just known too many and it feels a bit plain compared to your other daughter’s names. What about Daphne? (As you’ve said you love the book Rebecca although it’s not 3 syllables)

Will throw in a few random suggestions though!
Francesca, Evelyn, Theodore and

Isabelle / Annabelle
Adeline
Delilah
Matilda
Imogen
Gabrielle
Dorothy

ValpolicellaPrimitivo · 06/03/2021 19:34

Also Philippa, Naomi, Alexandra, Marilyn, Elizabeth, Victoria

partyatthepalace · 06/03/2021 21:09

I really like it, but can’t stand Becky and Becca’s not great either -

Cassia, Serena, Marianne, Claudia, Philippa, Estella, Genevieve, Eloise, Iona, Meredith,

BabyMoonPie · 06/03/2021 21:12

Rebecca is beautiful. How about Emmeline or Clementine?

danascully96 · 06/03/2021 22:05

I love Rebecca -- it's a striking name fit for a gothic novel and movie. It's long and romantic, but not frilly. I think of it as darkly romantic, lightning could flash behind the name it's so magnificent.

Becca's a cute nn, but I do dislike Becky. My only reservation for Rebecca one that's rather silly, but Francesca ends in an "A," so I would personally try to find a name that didn't to make the sibset cohesive... but I also believe that if you love a name, that should matter more than worries over how a "sibset sounds."

Also, I like the suggestion of Meredith, Daphne, Caroline, and Jennifer (although, Jennifer is slightly dated to me).

Other names (I will have some ending in "A"):
Julia
Anna
Susannah
Violet
Laura
Diana
Victoria
Cecily
Josephine
Audrey
Natalie
Sophie
Isobel/Isabel
Faith
Lucille

Whatsyourflava · 06/03/2021 22:06

@Paperyfish Meredith I just think of Meredith Kercher . Wasn't going to mention it but saw Jessica reference

Ikeameatballs · 06/03/2021 22:12

I like Rebecca but I’m not sure how much you can control nicknames....I know one Rebecca and a Bec and a Bex....

Other ideas are

Harriet
Matilda
Imelda
Delilah
Penelope
Belinda
Constance
Jemima
Emmeline
Jocelyn

MuddleMoo · 06/03/2021 22:19

I like it. Can also be spelt Rebekha but I like Rebecca better

TheVanguardSix · 06/03/2021 22:23

I have a Rebecca and a Theodore, so if course, they’re the best names! Grin
But if not Rebecca, perhaps Anais, Tabitha, Marion, Samantha?

MuddyWalks · 06/03/2021 22:27

Rebekah is lovely

Acidrain · 06/03/2021 22:30

I'm a Rebecca and people I know well call me Bex for short but I introduce myself as Rebecca to everyone, so that's what they call me. It's a lovely name

babynamelover · 06/03/2021 22:49

It has a different feel to me then Francesca, Evelyn & Theodore.

Imogen
Ottilie
Georgette
Harriet
Juliet
Katherine
Vivienne
Madeleine
Margot
Rose
Penelope

IamnotwhouthinkIam · 06/03/2021 22:52

Fairly timeless but not one of my favourites personally (because I also dislike the nn's Bex or Becky, but I think they could be inevitable).

I really like pp suggestions of Isabel or Beatrice with your current DC's names as they are similarly classic, fairly popular, 3 syllable but have different ending sounds to the other DC names, so not too matchy. I also love Juliet, although it's a lot less popular.
