I’ve had the name Cornelia stuck in my head for the last few weeks and it’s becoming a favourite of mine. What do you think of Cornelia?

I think Cornelia is lovely - Nell or Coco as a nickname both sweet. I think people massively overestimate how much a child's name has to do with being teased or not. A confident, happy child isn't going to become a bullying victim because a seven year old thinks Cornelia sounds like corn, and people gets corns on their feet.

I wouldn't choose it - corns on feet, corny, corn hole and Cornelia the queen chimp from Planet of the Apes. Children can be cruel little buggers.

I don't like it either.
I love Carmel though, it was my late great aunt's name.

I agree with @LittleGwyneth on bullying and names. A cool, popular child will be able to pull off any name. While names can be used to bully children and children can be nasty, I don't think a name is the root cause. Lots of popular names also lend themselves to teasing (smelly Ellie, Willy/William) but that doesn't (and shouldn't) put people off the name.
