I’ve always loved Avery, but a friend of mine pointed out it rhymed with slavery and I couldn’t get past it. Also think echo is so cute for a girl/little sister/twin. I don’t have any girls, but am also not cool enough to use it anyway!! Smile

Also Sofonisba, after the Renaissance artist Sofonisba Anguissola.

Hoowhoowho · 06/02/2021 00:08

I was pretty strongly talked out of both Boudicca and Job on here. I still love Job

My actual children all have names at the very bottom or not on the charts at all, so mostly I went for my bold choices and dropped the common names. For example my alternative for DD1 was Nell but her actual name is far more uncommon.

If DD2 had been a boy, she’d have been Hazel after the rabbit in Watership Down, still sad I don’t have my little boy Hazel. My alternate girl name was Eris, I still love that too.

Other rarer names I considered or were roundly rejected by DH; Atlas, Cassiopeia, Rhythm, Rejoice, Sunrise (Sunny), Sesame.

For girls:

Laureline (a character name created for old French sci-fi comic)

35andThriving · 06/02/2021 14:32

IndiaMay, love it. Patsy is such a great name! Smile

Orphlids · 06/02/2021 14:55

My partner is still disappointed we didn’t name DD2 Boudicca. I loved it too, but was worried she might consider it a burden. I love Hero, Lennox and Loveday. I would have probably gone with Loveday if it had just been down to me, but DP didn’t like it. We named her Isolde in the end.

Orphlids · 06/02/2021 15:00

@TheVanguardSix, Pendragon is just wonderful, isn’t it? If DD had been a boy, she would have been Uther. Maybe even Uther Pendragon if we were feeling particularly —cruel— brave.

@Hoppinggreen Objrctively, I’ve always thought Lucifer was an ace name with a cool meaning! Shame it’s basically unusable.

I’ve mentioned this on other threads but I adore the name Lysander. Wasn’t sure my kid would though so I’ll need to find a pet to inflict it on!

BabyBee93 · 06/02/2021 17:02

@Riv12345 love love love both River and Lane (though I'd use Lane for a girl and spell it "Layne")

@Rainbowqueeen Nash is looooovely!

@Hoowhoowho I also love Job! Was strongly vetoed by DP sadly

I'm so glad I started this thread, so many beautiful names cropping up! Have certainly shuffled our names list for sure

PS. Gulliver has been vetoed by DP and DM. I could cry!

I agree re Lucifer. It's a beautiful name but.... We considered Lucien but a school friend had had it, the boys would be a year apart but our eldest in the same year. It just felt weird. If I had boy girl twins alone of have Lucien and Lilith
