Lucy or Marianne?

All right dear MN, I now believe after maaany hours debating that we have our winning duo for DD due in February:
Marianne
Or
Lucy

Which one do you prefer and why? What kind of little girl do you imagine for both?

Our surname is one syllable, both go well with it.

Lucy is cute but it's very popular at the moment, there could be several with the same name at school / nursery. Marianne on the other hand isnt popular at all and is beautiful. Go for Marianne.

I love them both. I think Marianne is more interesting/original but then Lucy is more classic.

Both lovely but I would go for Marianne out of the two options! A bit different and more striking :)

Marianne seems very middle aged to me, but I suspect that has something to do with the Marianne I know.

When I think Lucy I think ...juicy Lucy
so it's a vote for Marianne or Marnie for me.
I also think Anna as mentioned up thread is a beautiful classic elegant name.
