I would be unlikely to use a name that a colleague had just used relatively recently, but then I managed to give dd2 a super popular name without realising. I'd never met any at baby groups or anything with dd1. Turned out to be top 10 and met several since, although she is the only one in her school.

That's more than five I know.

With the colleague, I wouldn't like others thinking I had no imagination and copied the colleague who'd used the name first. But then, if the staff turnover is high, maybe just use the name. People will quickly forget what their first thoughts were when they heard your choice.
