Just wondering really!

Sometimes I can’t explain it but I see kids and the parents reveal the name and I just don’t feel like the children suit the name?

I can’t explain why but yes I’m just wondering have any of you felt like this?

I taught a child called King David. To be fair, few kids can carry that off at 4 and it was (to put it mildly) somewhat irksome to have to refer to a child as 'King David' whenever I wanted to get his attention.

All the neveahs.

YouBoughtMeAWall · 03/01/2021 00:57

Or rather, nevaehs.

A very blonde, shy, awkward girl called Raven.

My kids have quote distinctive names and I do wonder what people will imagine before meeting them and if they'll live up to it

Mally2020 · 03/01/2021 01:46

Yes all the time and it always seems to be the weird or outlandish names

@Mally2020

That's my concern 🤣
EuphieKat · 03/01/2021 03:37

Not a child, but a lady I know is the least ‘bonnie’ Bonnie I’ve ever met!

Bigoldmachine · 03/01/2021 03:54

A baby boy called Balthazar. Bazzie for short (which didn’t suit him either)

SleepingStandingUp · 03/01/2021 04:15

I love the name Balthazar. It was on our list. I reckon one of the twins could have pulled it off

@Abracadabra12345

I often have trouble trying to “fix” a name to that child because they just don’t suit it. I have to mentally change their name from the one they should have had to the one they are actually called Smile
Yes that’s my own rule too. If I don’t think someone suits their name I must find a name I think they do suit ASAP.

Naughtiest child at my kids' school is called Angel. They all call her Devil instead.

JustanotherTuesday · 03/01/2021 09:42

I used to know a blonde haired, blue eyed little girl with very pale skin called Ebony.

TheVanguardSix · 03/01/2021 09:46

Not really, but I have to agree with 17caterpillars that Aurora never works. Same with Aria, Arabella, Aurelia, and Ophelia. There's just something 'too much' about these names. They're heavy handles.

EmmanuelleMakro · 03/01/2021 09:47

I once taught a boy called Wonderful.
He wasn’t.

GreeboIsMySpiritAnimal · 03/01/2021 11:42

Two names I loved for my DD but didn't use in case she took after me:

Wren: I'm taller than average, and although slim have a curvy, athletic build, nothing wren-like about me. She's 4'8 at age 8, so this was the right choice.

Grace: I'm clumsy as shit. She, as it turns, is rather graceful, and probably could've carried it off - right up to point she's asked to do anything sporty, and falls over her own feet. Grin

Bluntness100 · 03/01/2021 11:46

A young girl called lulu. A frivolous girls name for a very unfrivolous girl.

Cindy87 · 03/01/2021 11:52

I also once met a shy, little white girl called Beyonce! Also a friend taught a boy called Genius. He was very low ability.

Bobbiepin · 03/01/2021 17:14

@Cindy87 does her surname start with R?

I love virtue names, most commonly in my experience come from West African families and are more hopeful than predictions!

Cindy87 · 03/01/2021 17:43

@bobbiepin
I don't know her surname. She would be late teens now I think.

justineboober · 03/01/2021 17:53

I can't think of any occasions that spring to mind myself. But twice i've been told I didn't look like a justineboober* but looked like a "Zoe" instead. Two different occasions, two different people, both said they thought I looked like a Zoe.

*not my real name Wink

Bobbiepin · 03/01/2021 18:15

Yeah the one I taught would be 18/19 now I think

MollyButton · 03/01/2021 18:17

A teenager called Ebony - who had almost white blonde hair and fair scandinavian skin.

wherewildthingsare · 03/01/2021 18:27

Yea I have known a young girl called pure. Pure she was not.

sweetchristmastime · 03/01/2021 18:31

I knew a child called Hope who was the sourest child ever

happylittlechick · 03/01/2021 18:45

I taught a shy girl with mousy hair called calypso.
