French names for boys

Hello! Baby imminent and I want to make sure I haven't missed any excellent French names (personal link) for boys.

I'm not into the real classics like Pierre/Jacques, but do love those like Pascal, Lucien, Loïc, Yves...

Any interesting suggestions?

Hello! Yes thank you for all your suggestions! I also really like Etienne but it's the name of a particularly odious ex-boyfriend of a close friend so is a bit tainted. I like Amaury too but tested it on British family and didn't like the pronunciation... The search continues!

I’m French and don’t suggest it, mainly old people/ grandfathers are named Maurice nowadays over there :/

I see the name Hugo mentioned a lot here.
Though it's very popular in France, it's origin is German (it means 'mind' or 'wisdom' in the old Germanic language).

Bret? FFS.

Butterfly I live in the 93 :-) your question is very broad. what sort of names do you like?

Touslesfromages · 28/12/2020 13:59

Maxence.

Adore the name but unfortunately had my heart broken by one.

notafanoftheman · 28/12/2020 14:00

sorry, addressed the wrong person there. MamaLoLo what sort of names do you like? Your question is a bit like asking what English names do you like? There's quite a range between Tarquin and Jaxxon.

Ah cool :) I’m from the south of France, 93 is my birth year :)
GU24Mum · 28/12/2020 14:21

The French family I stayed with on my year out (a while ago admittedly.....) had a son called Corentin which I've always liked.

beggingforsleep · 28/12/2020 19:53

We have a Loic but also considered Malo, Briac, Aubin and Yann

Laska2Meryls · 28/12/2020 20:02

Didier

(but I love Etienne)

My handsome french teen love was Bernard! ( but pronounced in the French way as 'Bern-arr' its not so bad )

notafanoftheman · 28/12/2020 20:09

Malo and Brieuc were two of my favorites too 😍

From the suggestions, I really like Corentin and Maxence... My top three other French names are Pascal, Loïc and Lucien. I like Raphael and Yves too.
