Half Indian/half English boys name

Not sure what we having yet but trying to think of names already. We have quite a few potential girls names lined up that fit the bill of sounding both Indian and/or English but boys names are so much harder.

I quite like the nn Ash but can't think what I'd like the full name to be! I don't love Ashwin and that's about all I can think of.

Also not Raj or Hari. I love Rohan but that's already a name in my close family so can't use it.

How about Avinash called Avi? I know several named Avi, Indian and not. Beautiful name, easy to pronounce.

Did a quick google and a few names popped out that can work as a first or middle name:

 • Akash
 • Jai
 • Jayesh
 • Jovan
 • Kiaan
 • Milan
 • Neil/Neel
 • Prem
 • Sanjay
 • Sunny
 • Vittal

A slightly random suggestion but would you take inspiration from neighbouring countries with Sanskrit origins like Tibet?
Aden if your are keen to start with an A.
Or Tashi has the ash sound and could arguably be shortened to Ash
**@meera454* @Trailing1* all lovely names but still a bit too... indian (BTW I'm the Indian one out of me and my husband so I can say that 😂)

Kallum is interesting!

I really liked Kiran/Kieran but husband isn't overly keen on that.
Thinking of names that could be shortened to the nickname Ash (which sounds British in short), what about:

Ashan (I actually know a half Bangladeshi, half British man with this name, although I think he said the origin of the name is African)

Ashin

Ashim / Asheem (as opposed to Asim which I think is Indian origin)

Ashir

Ashraf

Ashani

Or perhaps the following ending in "-Ash" could also be shortened to Ash as a nickname?
Romash

Kalash

Akash/Akaash

Joash

Vikash.

Good luck 😊

If they have their father’s English (?) surname then going more Indian might give more balance to reflect their dual heritage.

You don’t have to go full on Indian but there’s some good suggestions
