Regan/Raegan

I really like the name Regan/Reagan (not sure what spelling I like best) but when I mentioned this name to someone else they said it was the name of the girl in the exorcist.

Having never watched this film I had no idea, is this what you would think of if you heard someone with this name and would this put you off using it.

I had read King Lear but had forgotten that reference. I just think of the ex-president.

I do think of The Exorcist but it doesn't put me off the name. I love it.

Ronald Reagan springs instantly to mind - unfortunately.

Dislike it for girl or boy.

I've come across boys called regan which tends to make me think the parents are a bit ignorant - if you like a name why wouldn't you check out the meaning of the name? It's a Shakespearean girl's name I also think it's a pretty ugly sound and if you mess with the spelling you'll set her up for a lifetime of correcting people

I know a boy Reagan. I don’t see him too often and so I can never remember if it should be pronounced Raygan, or Reegan.

My DS who is 3 is called Regan. I love it and still do. In fact I've been stopped by strangers when they've heard me call him, to say what a lovely name it is.

I also think of Ronald, and think it just sounds a bit ugly.

Are you planning on pronouncing it Reg-an (ie like Megan), Ree-gan (like Ronald) or Ray-gun?

To be honest I prefer Megan to any of those! (Not surprising as I thought about calling Dd Megan.)

Regan and Raegan/Reagan are two different names, relevant as to what you want the child to be called.
