Nice for a baby or too middle aged/too much of a mouthful?

Hmm it’s quite grown up but I mean she’ll be a grown up for most of her life. I know a 5 year old Elizabeth, not shortened, it’s a pretty name.

missmus · 19/11/2020 12:22

Pretty and classic. Beth for short.

Ismellphantoms · 19/11/2020 12:24

Perfect. She'll have a good choice of shortened versions and using Elizabeth is fine for any age.

MerlinsBeard87 · 19/11/2020 12:24

Love it, so many shortening possibilities. My favourite is Betty

MillicentMartha · 19/11/2020 12:25

Lovely name, and so much potential for nicknames, Bessie, Bess, Beth, Betty, Bettina, Liz, Lizzie, Eliza, Lizza, Libby.

Awwlookatmybabyspider · 19/11/2020 12:37

There's not much to fault about it really. Its timeless and classless. When I say classless it belongs in any class from the Queen to the working class.
Plus the NN options are endless.
Its one of those names though where you have to pronounce it properly otherwise it does sound dreadful. I heard" Lizbit, get here, now", the other week. It made a,beautiful name sound completely awful and chavvy.

Nell96 · 19/11/2020 12:39

Classic - I really like Beth as a nn for a little one

TheySeeHerRowling · 19/11/2020 12:40

Really love it, had it as a middle name for dd1 but wish I could have had it as a first name for dd2 really - love all the shorter versions, especially Beth and Eliza

CheesePleaseLoueese · 19/11/2020 12:41

Classic and beautiful.

I like the nicknames Betty and Eliza

Justcallmemeg · 19/11/2020 12:41

Beautiful name

LightDrizzle · 19/11/2020 12:43

Lovely name.

WhySoSensitive · 19/11/2020 12:47

Betsy or Lyla are my Elizabeth nn.
Versatile, will grow well with her.

Chickoletta · 19/11/2020 12:50

Beautiful - I would call her Elsie for short.

Starlight39 · 19/11/2020 12:51

I really like it but don't like that many of the shortened versions so I'd have a think about them before you go for it as it is one of those names that will probably be shortened at some point even if you insist on it being full when she's small!

ilovespinach · 19/11/2020 12:55

Love it. Prefer Elisabeth though....

TragedyHands · 19/11/2020 12:56

I think this has to be the most versatile name, so many possibilities.

HalfSiblingsMadeContact · 19/11/2020 12:58

Agree you've got loads of options with it, I think there's a nickname for every personality, and you can change around as a child gets older too.

I had speech delay from hearing problems when I was little and was "Buffy" for a bit - the closest I could come to pronouncing Elizabeth was something like Wurbuf

gingerbreadfox · 19/11/2020 13:16

Love it

Fenellapitstop · 19/11/2020 13:21

I have a Lilibet which is a pet name for Elizabeth

missmouse101 · 19/11/2020 13:27

No, too middle aged (as you put it!)

Whatsyourflava · 19/11/2020 14:10

Adore it!
Middle aged names to me are more Sarah Debbie and Hayley type names (all nice of course)
The sort of names that totally slumped after a big boom and now are no where near the top 100 or even top 1000

CharitySchmarity · 19/11/2020 14:16

I think it's beautiful and timeless. I like most of the common short forms, but I don't think it has to be shortened - I have known quite young girls who went by Elizabeth and people coped.

AnneOfCleavage · 19/11/2020 14:22

Elizabeth is a classic timeless name. I prefer Elisabeth nn Lissie or Lissa/ Lissia or Elisa. You could have Lil or Lily as well.

Firebird83 · 19/11/2020 14:24

The best name in my opinion

PabloHoneyBee · 19/11/2020 15:51

I like it too, but I don't like Liz, (but that's because I know two who are just vile). That would be my only hesitation. Weirdly, I do like Lizzy and pretty much all the other shortening options. Eliza, Beth, Betsy, Betty.
