Would this be silly

Our dd surname will be Green, we really like the name Rose, I can't help but think Rose Green may be a little bit silly? What do you think?

OP posts:

Sadhoot · 02/11/2020 15:28

No I think it's fine - what would the middle name be?

Changethetoner · 02/11/2020 15:29

it's okay. don't over think.

takemebacktomarch7th · 02/11/2020 15:30

Rosa Green flows better than Rose Green IMO. But no, it's not silly.

bridgetreilly · 02/11/2020 15:44

It's okay, but I don't love it. What about Rosanna, Rosalind or Rosalie?

SlopesOff · 02/11/2020 15:45

Was going to suggest Rosemary, Rosie, Rosalind, Rosalie, Rosanne.

Teresa would be bad though.

Meowza74 · 02/11/2020 16:04

I know a Rose West. Shock

JustCallMeGriffin · 02/11/2020 16:31

Theresa would make my eyebrows jump, but not Rose. I think it'll work fine.

Marcipex · 02/11/2020 16:34

It’s fine. Simple and sweet.

She wasn't asking you to love it, or for other suggestions, only if it would be silly .. which it isn't.

OP definitely go for the name if you both like it :).

Nosleeptilteenagers · 02/11/2020 17:19

I think it’s fine 🙂 Rose is a beautiful name.

Whatsyourflava · 02/11/2020 18:03

I think it's really nice

MikeUniformMike · 02/11/2020 18:05

It's not great.
How about Jade, Emerald or Sage?

MercyBodle · 04/11/2020 00:28

It's okay, but not great. I love the name Rose, but would feel a bit self-conscious about having that combination. I also feel that two names with one syllable don't always sound great together, and that lack of a good rhythm adds to the issue here.

Agree with this it’s the two names one syllable, it sounds very flat a bit ‘Jane Doe’
Enough4me · 04/11/2020 01:40

When I hear Rose Green in my head, I think, but isn't it rose red?

Rosa Green sounds like 'rows of green' too.

cloverbug · 04/11/2020 05:10

Rosa or Rosanna with the nn Rose would be lovely.

TheDaydreamBelievers · 04/11/2020 05:16

@MikeUniformMike you're kidding, right?

@Penny32 Rose or any variation isnt silly w your surname and is v nice

Suzi888 · 04/11/2020 05:20

“Was going to suggest Rosemary, Rosie, Rosalind, Rosalie, Rosanne”.

Agree with this.

Antonin · 04/11/2020 13:29

Rosemary Green is no different from Rose Green or Sage Green.
Rosa Green could be misheard as Rose are Green.
Sadly we can’t always use our first choice of name because of our surname.

LittleDoritt · 04/11/2020 13:31

Agree that it sounds really flat, but not silly.

MikeUniformMike · 04/11/2020 15:37

Yes I was kidding TheDaydreamBelievers.

I'd avoid a noun or adjective name. Poor Rose (Rosa/Rosemary/...) would get a lifetime of it.

A two syllable name would go better, something like Sophie Green or Katie Green seems prettier.

YoniAndGuy · 04/11/2020 16:40

It's more that it sounds jerky, with the two single syllable names - doesn't flow very well.

melisande99 · 04/11/2020 16:48

It's fine. Wouldn't think anything of it. And unlike PPs I like it being two short names - clean and strong!

TheDaydreamBelievers · 04/11/2020 20:20

Sorry @MikeUniformMike! Sense of humour failure with the stresses of today!

CuppaZa · 04/11/2020 20:22

It’s perfectly fine
