What's your thoughts? I love the name Teddy but I worry he won't thank me later for it when he's older but don't like the name Theodore or Edward and a teddy for short x

Cute as a baby but think of 13 year old Teddy at secondary school and the names he's bound to be called. Ted would be a better option.

Frederick is a good name, not too common, quite dignified, lends itself to lots of shortening, including possibly the ubiquitous Teddy.

It is such a popular name that by the time he is a teenager/adult there will be loads of other adult Teddys so it probably won't be an issue.

That said, I'm not a fan of cutesy names in general so I'd definitely pick a more formal name.

Don't do it. You are naming an adult. That's what really matter, not having all your friends say "Aww thats sooo cute!"

Call him Teddy as a NN, which he can use/drop as and when. Put something better on the birth certificate.

Cuddly toy.
Call him Edward, Edwin or Theodore so that when he's a big, hairy bloke he has a proper grownup name.

wet, a colleague gave it to her son, I cringe every time I hear it.
