Final two!

Baby boy due imminently. Big brother Oliver. We have narrowed it down to the final two:

Archie
Ruaridh (I like the spelling Ruary but DH has vetoed it)

Middle name will be Calum and we have a double barrelled surname which goes well with both.

Ruaridh is so much nicer than Archie.

Kanaloa · 08/10/2020 23:01

I like Archie and I think Archie Calum sounds nice with big brother Oliver.

NC4Now · 08/10/2020 23:01

I prefer Ruaridh. Are you Scottish or is it just a name you love?

Yes we are Scottish and live in Scotland

I like them both, but Archie will be easier for him than Ruaridh. Although it's a popular name in Scotland, there are so many variations of the spelling that few will get it right first time and he'll need to spell out in Starbucks and on the phone and to every new teacher.

MercyBodle · 09/10/2020 00:04

I like both names very much. My first choice is Ruaridh though.

BackforGood · 09/10/2020 00:09

What Downton said.

I am not Scottish, and wouldn't have a clue how to start to spell it. How much that will bother you (or him) varies person from person.

Ruaridh by a country mile - love it!

Auto · 09/10/2020 04:01

I prefer Archie by a long way.

This. Be prepared for folk not to know how to say it from the written form though.
emilybrontescorsett · 09/10/2020 04:56

How do you pronounce Ruaridh?

Ruaridh. Not at all keen on Archie, although it is ok in a scottish accent.

user1493494961 · 09/10/2020 11:46

Archie.

I’d go for Calum.
