What are your thoughts on the name Amy? Would be a sister to Margot

Really struggling with names!

Sunbird24 · 01/10/2020 20:44

I like it Op, think it goes well with Margot

eclipseofthefart · 01/10/2020 20:46

I also really like Juliet but worried they sound too French when said together, people will think their parents are French when the only word I know is Bonjour! Grin

It's ok but a bit boring. Juliet is much better.

eclipseofthefart · 01/10/2020 20:48

How many of you know children called Amy? I know a lot of adults but can't think of any children. If we did go with Amy, wouldn't want 5 in the same class as her!

That was my concern that it was a bit boring.
Do you not think Margot and Juliet sounds French though? They don't sound right together, maybe I'm overthinking

Beautiful!

Mamascoven · 01/10/2020 20:52

Margot & Juliet sound so lovely together. Much better than Amy!

WildCherryBlossom · 01/10/2020 20:53

Amy & Juliet are both beautiful. I know one child Amy (and two adults), I know one child Juliette and one adult Juliet.

Either one is great with Margot

Sunbird24 · 01/10/2020 20:53

I don’t know of even one little Amy or Juliet. Do you have to decide now? Could you decide which suits her when she arrives?

ComicePear · 01/10/2020 20:54

I like Amy but prefer Juliet. Neither are very popular IMO.

pourmeanotherglass · 01/10/2020 21:47

Both lovely names. Ive got a gorgeous 17 year old Amy. She has met other Amy's but has never had another in her class or even year at school.

DramaAlpaca · 01/10/2020 21:51

I love Amy, so pretty, simple and sweet.

LynetteScavo · 01/10/2020 21:59

Margot is such a fantastic name! Amy is a bit meh.

Much prefer Edith, Clara, Juliet, Genevieve, Elsa or Lena,

Lockdownfatigue · 01/10/2020 22:04

I know one child called Amy. I much prefer Juliet!

Kanaloa · 01/10/2020 22:11

Amy and Juliet are both lovely and both suitable with Margot. If the worry is them sounding French, I think Amy has French roots as well. Either one would be nice.

Firebird83 · 01/10/2020 22:14

I’ve never met a nice Amy. Juliet is lovely though.

brads88 · 01/10/2020 22:15

I'm not sure the style of name goes with Margot, but if that doesn't bother you then go with it!
I like the earlier suggestions of Clara - I think maybe something like Sophie which would also go too without sounding "too French"? Or another classic/ longer name such as Francesca, Annabel, Georgina?

valtandsinegar · 01/10/2020 22:15

Amy is the most boring name on earth.

FlyingApples · 01/10/2020 22:16

I think Amy is a lovely name, much nicer than Juliet. Classic.

FairfaxAikman · 01/10/2020 22:16

I prefer Juliet personally but that's down to poor experiences with several Amys.

Both have in their favour the fact they are uncommon. And obcjectivly Amy is classic, clean and simple.

TheDIsiilusionedAnarchist · 01/10/2020 22:20

Amy is lovely (personally I’ve never met a pleasant Juliet!) but Juliet is also pretty. I think Amy goes better with Margot.

danascully96 · 02/10/2020 02:21

I prefer Juliet :)

Amy is soooo 80s to me and the sound makes me think of a pinch-nosed girl. It really unsettles me lol what about Anna? I prefer that "A" name if you don't want a French theme.

BeMorePacific · 02/10/2020 03:15

I really love the name Amy. Just gorgeous x x

MercyBodle · 02/10/2020 04:18

Both nice names. I prefer Amy with Margot.

Trisolaris · 02/10/2020 04:22

Amy is classic - meaning of love or beloved. Really common in the 80’s but I only know one under ten. Everyone knows how to spell it and is not commonly shortened. Lovely.
