What are your thoughts on the name Amy? Would be a sister to Margot

Really struggling with names!

Juliet and Margot are both so established and used in anglophone countries that I definitely wouldn't assume the family was French. They sound elegant together.

The ones I know in France spell it Juliette.

Thanks for all the advice. I am surprised there aren't more Amy's around as I thought it was really popular, I had so many in my class at school!
DH had a wonderful great Auntie called Amy so there is some backstory with that name.
I do also love the name name Clara but a friend of mine had already named her child that so it wouldn't feel right.
DH loves Sadie but I feel like that's too modern with Margot.

Any other suggestions welcome!

Not keen on Amy. Juliet is better. Sadie is fab and I think sounds great with Margot.

I love Amy. Simple and classic with a lovely meaning. It works well with Margot. Go for it!

Amy is nice but I think it's very of it's time ie late 80's babies. How about Amelie? Although that will add even more to the french vibe.
Juliet is very nice, I wouldn't consider it overly french

@eclipseofthefart Amy is well outside the top 200 names now, it's super unusual these days and really lovely
She will almost certainly be the only one in her class and school

Whatsyourflava · 02/10/2020 10:50

Juliet I don't like because of nickname Jules
Amy is perfect though

Squeakerfoot · 02/10/2020 11:35

I know one little Amy, but it is definitely unusual now. I think both options are nice but I like Juliet more, especially with Margot.

Some other suggestions...

Dinah
Helena
Eloise
Estella
Ingrid
Iris
Sylvia
Imogen
Freya

I know a five-year-old Amy, but it’s fairly unusual for a child now. I quite like it but it feels a bit soft and insipid next to the much stronger Margot, and to me feels too dated to feel properly fresh - it was super common when I was at school in the 80s/90s.

Love Juliet though - timeless, elegant and familiar but not too common. Plus Jet/Ettie make great nicknames.
