Beautiful girls names but not overused

My problem is the name that I feel like I might go for - unless I find one that feels like ‘the one’ in the next week or two is Grace.

I think it’s beautiful but I know it’s just so popular and that’s what’s bugging me. I noticed it had a real rise in the recent charts as well.

I’d like a feminine pretty name that isn’t overused but isn’t strange in the way that people are confused of spellings.

A boy would have certainly be called Ezra which fits all of my criteria - not overly popular but a well know enough name, lovely name and sound.

Any suggestions would be helpful because it’s getting closer and closer.
I’ve considered Aurelia for a long time but it’s the pronunciation and spelling that’s putting me off of that one.

Aurelia is nice, so is Grace. Would you consider Anna/Hannah? It means Grace and although it was popular at one time, I haven’t met a little one for ages.

Thank you for all these lovely suggestions - I hadn’t thought of Ezra for a girl - they combination that was mentioned of Ezra Valentine is so beautiful 😍
I also like Brooke but wasn’t sure if it was too dated...

If you like Aurelia but are concerned about if being difficult to pronouce or spell, how about Aurenna?

Chickenkatsu · 28/09/2020 11:38

Livia?

Henio · 28/09/2020 11:48

The Welsh name 'Mali' is beautiful, pronounced the same way as Sally

CeibaTree · 28/09/2020 11:53

Cordelia, Tabitha, Hazel, Iris, Beatrix.

As an aside Ezra is becoming pretty popular - I know of 3 born in the last year.

CloudyGladys · 28/09/2020 11:56

Ezra Grace or both names are short enough to hyphenate without feeling you need to drop the second half: Ezra-Grace.

If you like Ezra, then what about Zara? The only thing is if you later have a boy, it makes using Ezra more difficult.

FourPlasticRings · 28/09/2020 11:57

Thyra. Pronounced Tee-ra. Might be too out there though?

With regards to being one of several with a name in a class...
In the year DD was born, 420ish girls were given a certain name. 2 are in her class (out of 14 girls). Meanwhile my other DD, who has a top ten name.... Has never over 6 house moves with various nurserys, schools, swim groups, Rainbows, Scouts, dance classes etc has never met anyone with the same first name. The nearest was there was another in her sisters preschool class.

Having a popular name is not a guarantee of them always being loads around. Statistically, she will be tbe only one in her class.

Names that have the same feel to me as Grace but less used:

Faith
Hope
Heather
Esther
Penelope
Helen/Helena
Ruth

I know a little Aurelia and I think its beautiful. Grace is too, but I agree its very popular. I know 4 Ezras aged between 6m and 3 - I think it may be more popular than you're imagining.

ICouldHaveCheckedFirst · 28/09/2020 12:24

Venetia.
Carissa.

Luce89 · 28/09/2020 12:26

It depends where you live. I'm a reception teacher and in the last 4 years I've only taught one Grace!
Jane is also nice?

Prufrocks · 28/09/2020 12:34

Verity?

Grace seems very popular but I can’t think of a single one in my dc’s (admittedly small) school.

I remember the year of the Olivias at nursery though!

Edenember · 28/09/2020 13:32

Ezra(h) can be girls too.

Or use Grace, it’s lovely.

Eve?

MikeUniformMike · 28/09/2020 14:38

Ezra is very popular, Aurelia is too frilly.
Grace - not keen.

How about Victoria or Prudence.

OhTheRoses · 28/09/2020 21:02

A lot also depends on demographics. There were 12 girls in dd's reception class (although she us 22!). Three were called Imogen and three were called Alice! Funnily enough no Eleanors or Isabels.
