Is Sienna too popular?

DH really likes it and although it's not a name I ever really considered before, I do see its charm. He also argues that we spent time there during our honeymoon and loved it. However I feel as though it's a bit popular atm. She will be my last baby and has three older brothers.

Not too popular no. But if it’s your only girl it needs to be a name you both love

Garcellesaidwhaaat · 25/09/2020 22:35

It's #24 in the top 100 if that helps.

calimommy · 25/09/2020 22:38

Haha yes I agree. But I'm open to suggestions from DH. We were both quite stunned to be told girl and he's a little more thrown than me so having him suggest names is a step forward 😂 when I was younger I had some notion of having 4 girls named Laura, Madeline, Charlotte & Rose, and now after all this time, and boys, I think I've gone off them.

Madeleine and Laura are beautiful and not overused names, I would definitely choose one or both of those!

sienna is nice but definitely more of the moment. Charlotte is nice but also perennially popular and Rose is having a moment too.

The name Sienna has been falling in popularity since 2013 when it peaked so by the time your baby is here it will be even more unusual (See graph):

I think it's a lovely name and you have a great reason for picking it

PlantPotting · 26/09/2020 08:06

Madeline is ok but the ones I know get shortened to Maddie which I don't like and blend in with the Maddison's

PlantPotting · 26/09/2020 08:08

Laura is nice enough but obviously will be a "mum name" to the next generation, in the way Charlotte will not because it's still used now
Depends if mum name is bad or not. Would be like growing up in the 1980s called Sue. No one in your class with the name but many peoples mums and aunties are called it

peachypetite · 26/09/2020 08:08

I know quite a few and Millie Mackintosh has just called her baby Sienna which might mean it increases too

Auto · 26/09/2020 09:45

I've never met a Sienna of any age. I didn't think it was popular.

FluffyEggsontoast · 26/09/2020 10:01

Sienna is way less popular than it used to be looking at the statistics, having said that I've never met anyone called Sienna of any age anyway. Great name and lovely meaning to you.

That's a good point @peachypetite , looking at the statistics , reality TV style celebs picking a particular baby name seems to actually put people off though. The number's of baby "Rex"s has levelled off completely after Stacey Solomon used the name a year or two ago for example. Before she picked it the name Rex was rising fast, then stopped.
Similarly Binky (another MIC star) picked the name "India" a few years ago and the numbers of "India"s have declined quite a lot each and every year since she used it, looking at the statistics.

Oneandabean · 26/09/2020 14:23

It could be area specific, there’s loads of siennas in my daughters school and lots of little ones I hear called sienna in the shops where I am

Lotsalotsagiggles · 26/09/2020 14:26

Sienna rose would be a lovely name 😍

sunyla · 26/09/2020 14:30

Sienna is such a beautiful name! Smile

Cherrylipbalm · 26/09/2020 14:36

Sienna is a gorgeous name. It doesn't strike me as too popular. I'd go for it

boomboomg · 26/09/2020 14:45

Love it! It's on my girls list too xx

boomboomg · 26/09/2020 14:46

Also not popular - you have to put these things into context: unlikely you're going to find a name that Boone has used before and sienna isn't exactly as common as manses like Jack, Sarah, etc

calimommy · 26/09/2020 14:58

Thank you everyone for the feed back!

One last question, does it 'go' with the sibling names? (Yes I appreciate this is a ridiculous question -they won't be together forever 😂)
My third is an S too.

Lewis
Alexander
Sebastian
Sienna

i think they all go together perfectly @calimommy

boomboomg · 26/09/2020 16:21

They go together and are all lovely names x

calimommy · 26/09/2020 16:34

Thank you

Not too popular but quite modern, unlike your boys' names which are more classic. I can't imagine a middle-aged or elderly Sienna (but of course there will be plenty in 40+ years' time!).

LesLavandes · 26/09/2020 17:00

I have a Siena which is how the city is spelt

YoBeaches · 26/09/2020 17:03

Lovely together :)

Cherrylipbalm · 26/09/2020 17:12

Yes Sienna goes really well with your other names :)

calimommy · 26/09/2020 19:25

@LesLavandes yes I appreciate the spelling is not the same. It is the sentiment I suppose. I'll consider the single N spelling too -thank you
