  1. No continental connections. He’s a cute kid but I’m not keen on the name, feels a bit ‘try hard’
Carycy · 25/09/2020 16:23

He has some sort of Italian heritage. Otherwise it’s unaaceptable.

Runnerduck34 · 25/09/2020 16:25

No boys but one man of Cypriot origin in his fifties!

cultkid · 25/09/2020 16:25

One! And he is one!

Italian heritage.

Bobbinsmama · 25/09/2020 16:25

I have one! And at the baby group in the small town where we lived there was another one too, the same age.

Smellybluecheese · 25/09/2020 16:26

One 5 year old (Italian parents)

Bobbinsmama · 25/09/2020 16:26

Should have mentioned we chose Italian names for our children because DPs side of the family is Italian.

massistar · 25/09/2020 16:27
  1. 1 is mine and he's 15 and the other is 13. Both with Italian parents.
cultkid · 25/09/2020 16:28

The one I know is mine 😆

MikeUniformMike · 25/09/2020 16:28

Only the one.
He lives upstairs from me
Yes I think I've seen him before

Seriously, one and spirited sums him up.

emmathedilemma · 25/09/2020 17:01

only 1 adult (he's Italian)

HattonsMustard · 25/09/2020 17:02

One but he has Italian parents. He seems nice. Oh and he is 14.

Kanaloa · 25/09/2020 17:03

Just one but I know quite a few boys called Luke/Lucas.

RightOnTheEdge · 25/09/2020 17:07

I've never met a Luca that I know of, it's a lovely name though.

PlantPotting · 25/09/2020 17:09

Lovely name. Don't know any but I wouldn't assume they had any Italian links these days given its place in the charts

janetmendoza · 25/09/2020 17:18

One - aged about 15. No Italian connections but parents big fans of F1

unicornparty · 25/09/2020 17:21

One age 10

unicornparty · 25/09/2020 17:21

Sorry actually 2. One is 10 and one is 9

CoffeeandKitKat · 25/09/2020 17:23

None. (I have a 4 year old)

crossstitchingnana · 25/09/2020 17:24

3

motherstongue · 25/09/2020 17:26

1 aged 17 with Italian father

user1493494961 · 25/09/2020 17:26

One boy and one girl.

FeedMeSantiago · 25/09/2020 17:28

1 aged about 10, his grandparents are Italian and his mother wanted an Italian name which is easy to pronounce in the UK.

tiggy20 · 25/09/2020 17:33

Two - one aged 12 (Italian dad) and one aged 7

Melassa · 25/09/2020 17:36

Loads, but then I live in Italy. It’s the Jack/Steve/Whatever name is top of the charts in the U.K. equivalent as it’s so ubiquitous. It transcends generations, I know several, from 60yo Lucas all the way down the generations to a 6 yo one. It used to be if you called out Luca in a bar or a classroom loads of men/boys would answer.

It does seem to be dying down a bit, in the last few years there have been fewer. Or maybe I just frequent fewer children.

Anyway, nothing particularly wrong with it, it’s just a rather dull name. I’ve noticed the upsurge in popularity in the UK, I’ve not seen the attraction but I suppose to non-Italian ears it sounds exotic.

Mind you, in Italy Kevin became popular for a while, as did Brian (in a variety of spellings) so what do we know?
