I feel like we have been round and round in circles but last night these two came up as new contenders for DC3... thoughts?

Love Malcolm

SwedishEdith · 17/09/2020 20:56

@Gatelodge

I'm astonished at the love for Malcolm from some posters. I would group Malcolm with Geoffrey, Keith, Nigel, Bernard, Neville.

Malcolm is your bank manager, the chair of your local Conservative Association, the red-faced man propping up the bar of your village pub, airing his opinions about 'lady golfers' and advocating the death penalty and the return of compulsory national service.

Laughing as agree with all of that except I've never hated the name Keith. I blame being influenced by David 'Keith Partridge' Cassidy.

Malcolm????

daisypond · 17/09/2020 21:06

Ah, Malcolm is just a solid Scottish name to me. The Malcolms I know are all Scottish. No implications of pontificating men at golf clubs in the Shires.

CabernetSoWhat · 17/09/2020 21:26

Colm as a nickname? ??

As Malcolm is pronounced 'MAL-cum', I can only assume you're suggesting your son's nickname would be...

Go for Lewis.

VenusClapTrap · 17/09/2020 21:34

Malcolm makes me think of the character in Watching. But I am old.

That occurred to me too.

I know a baby Neville. Dad big fan of Gary and mum a Potterhead. I was horrified at first but he's 4 now and so cute. It suits him.

Firebird83 · 17/09/2020 22:30

I quite like Malcolm!

strawberrysandpecans · 17/09/2020 22:44

Malcolm is really awful sorry. Don't do it to the poor kid. Lewis is quite nice.

SwedishEdith · 17/09/2020 23:13

For those of us of a certain age, Malcolm will always be

SwedishEdith · 17/09/2020 23:14

Ha ha, Malcolm Rifkind is on tv as I type along with Lewis Goodall.

giggly · 17/09/2020 23:14

TinyMetalBirds · 17/09/2020 23:18

Malcolm is much much better than Lewis

Swiftnicola · 17/09/2020 23:22

I like Neville too. Prefer Malcolm to Lewis

Toontown · 17/09/2020 23:24

I hate Malcolm with a passion. I was called Malc as in a Malcoordinated for years as I have dyspraxia which was nice.

FizzingWhizzbee123 · 17/09/2020 23:56

Lewis. 1000%

DH suggested Malcolm and I laughed even had to check whether he was serious. It’s definitely in the realms of Derek, Norman, Roy and Keith to me.

BeMorePacific · 18/09/2020 12:56

Malcolm is up there with Keith & Trevor for me. Not a name that’s ready to come back.
I like Lewis. x

mollyminniemo · 18/09/2020 13:10

Helpimfalling · 18/09/2020 13:16

@Gatelodge

If you're giving birth to a middle-aged Rotarian who reads the Telegraph and refers to 'my good lady wife', go right ahead with Malcolm.
