I feel like we have been round and round in circles but last night these two came up as new contenders for DC3... thoughts?

I really love the name Malcom. Just don’t get the dislike for it in here Confused.

Lewis seems a bit insipid to me.

Toobe · 17/09/2020 14:06

*Malcolm Blush

Beamur · 17/09/2020 14:06

Malcolm is due a resurgence. Mal is a very cool diminutive. All of the older Malcolm's I know are top blokes so I only have good vibes for it
Lewis is ok but a bit meh.

Sk1nnyB1tch · 17/09/2020 14:08

Malcolm. Lewis is nice too but Malcolm will be that bit more unique, for the next four years or so anyway.

coronafiona · 17/09/2020 14:09

Malcom reminds me of talcom.Grin

Bloomburger · 17/09/2020 14:11

Malc the talc 😂

QueenOfPain · 17/09/2020 14:13

Jesus, neither of those!

Sanitisethat · 17/09/2020 14:21

I really like both! I think Malcolm is unusual these days but I love it.

CloudyGladys · 17/09/2020 14:21

Lewis looks like you heard Louis being mispronounced, but is probably better than Malcolm. That still has an old-man feel about it, but is probably not yet ready for a revival.

What about Colm?

Grufallisfriends · 17/09/2020 14:24

Malcom is a great name, much nicer sounding than for example Arthur. Personally I don't know any young or old Malcoms. I'd love to meet one!

BritneyS · 17/09/2020 14:25

Malcolm just makes me think Tucker. Fantastic fictional character but not someone I’d want associated with my angelic baby.

XFPW · 17/09/2020 14:26

Lewis looks like you heard Louis being mispronounced,

Eh?!?

Lewis is a totally legitimate Scottish name! What are you on about?

I actually don’t mind Malcolm and love the diminutive Mal. I know a teenage one who goes by Malky.

Lewis is very popular in Scotland and has been for some time.

HomesUnderTheSpanner · 17/09/2020 14:27

Oh god, not Malcolm!

ZoyaTheDestroyer · 17/09/2020 14:35

Malcolm is the rightful king who restores order at the end of Macbeth (and in a similar vein I rather like Duncan too). Mal is cool.

Grufallisfriends · 17/09/2020 14:35

Lewis looks like you heard Louis being mispronounced,

Lewis is a well known Scottish/British name! Everyone knows how to pronounce it in English.

Louis is a French name that is often mispronounced outside of France.

Pet8 · 17/09/2020 14:41

How about Colm instead?

CrocodileFondue · 17/09/2020 14:47

I like Malcom, Mal is quite nice for short. It's refreshing!

Lewis is very bland, there's loads at the moment. Just my opinion though.

MileyWiley · 17/09/2020 14:50

Absolutely Lewis.

badg3r · 17/09/2020 19:11

Gosh I had no idea Malcolm was so divisive!!

Yes I like Colm as a nickname too, I was quite keen on Callum a while ago but it sounds like Gollum when some people say it 😂

daisypond · 17/09/2020 19:34

I rather like Malcolm. Good, strong Scottish name. I know a fabulous one in his late 20s, and another even younger, so it doesn’t seem too extraordinary to me. Lewis is nice too but Malcolm had the edge.

JaffaJaffJaffpussycatpuss · 17/09/2020 19:53

What about 'Keith'? It's on a par with Malcolm in my eyes Grin
Sorry

SpeedofaSloth · 17/09/2020 19:54
Confused
PuppyLuff · 17/09/2020 19:55

Malcolm

DramaAlpaca · 17/09/2020 19:56

Lewis is fine, in fact I quite like it.

Malcolm is just dreadful.

pinkyboots1 · 17/09/2020 20:18

My son is Lewis and obviously I love it (named after The Isle of Lewis, Scotland as that's our heritage) only ever known two Malcom's ...and one of those was a Highland cow 🙄
