Alliteration thoughts?

I really like the name Freddie but our surname is Fisher

Is Freddie Fisher too much? It would likely be Frederick Fisher on BC

That one is absolutely fine imo. Now if your surname were Shaw and you wanted a Charlotte, that would be too much!

I think it's great! It rolls off the tongue beautifully, and has a lovely, jolly, friendly feel to it!

And it's a proper name, and whilst Freddie is lovely for a cute young boy, Fred or Frederick will see him well into adulthood and for when he is Prime Minister. Or a judge.

It’s a bit of a comedy name. Some people could pull it off, but it’s a gamble. I wouldn’t do it personally.

I don't much like alliterative names. They sound a bit cartoony, like Donald Duck, Mickey Mouse, Bugs Bunny, Pink Panther.

My name's aliterrative and my daughter's is aswell, we have different surnames so different initials, we're not Kardashian matchy, but I like how alliterative names roll off the tongue.

I have mixed feelings about alliterative names. While I think Freddie does sound fine with your surname, I grew up with an alliterative name and hated it. I feel it draws attention in a way I didn't like. That said, I don't think with mine that the flow was great, besides the alliteration.

So, while usable, if you can come up with a different name that you also love I think that would be preferable.

I like alliterative names. They're easier to remember, especially if the names on their own are relatively traditional. It's not true that the two together aren't often used. At home, yes. But Freddie Fisher will be used throughout his life by other people referring to him and there will be fewer occasions when someone says 'Freddie who?' and the answer is 'Freddie um er' while they try to remember his surname.

I have an alliterative name. I love it, it makes me smile. It definitely wouldn't put me off a name.

I usually like alliteration:
Robert Redford, Marilyn Monroe, Steven Spielberg, Greta Garbo, Pete Postlethwaite, Janet Jackson etc are all good names in my book....

But Freddie Fisher doesn't do it for me. I think it's something to do with the combination of a teddie eddie teddy bear nick namey first name, the alliteration and a surname with fish in it. Slightly comedic?

I prefer Fred/Frank/Flynn/Fabian with Fisher.

Also prefer Eddie Fisher to Freddie Fisher.

I think alliterative names either work or they don’t, there isn’t much middle ground. When they work they are really memorable.
