I really like the name Freddie but our surname is Fisher

Is Freddie Fisher too much? It would likely be Frederick Fisher on BC

Thanks

Don't mind alliteration names but not Freddie Fischer. He will be forever called Freddie the Fish, made worse by his initals being FF. Fish fingers.

@ArnoldBee

Yep Pie in the sky here too!
So glad it's not just me haha
MikeUniformMike · 14/09/2020 13:26

Can't you call him Jeremy?

Lobsterquadrille2 · 14/09/2020 13:28

I literally came on to comment that @MikeUniformMike would be along to suggest Jeremy!!!! You beat me to it.

My DD and my baby due soon with have alliteration with their names! Sounds great

DoTheMaccaroni · 14/09/2020 16:06

As soon as I see the word ‘alliteration’ my answer is yes. Can’t understand what on earth people see wrong with Freddie Fisher. Freddie Flintoff is actually called ‘Andrew’ Flintoff but I think it would have taken longer for me to remember that. Alliteration sticks in the mind more.

Sunnydaysstillhere · 14/09/2020 16:09

Oo my maiden name is Fisher!! Hello to another!!
My dgs is a Freddie. Not a Fisher though. Great names op. Go for it!

BikeRunSki · 14/09/2020 16:09

I love aliterative names, but you could also use Wilfred or Alfred to get Freddie.

Freegee · 14/09/2020 17:37

I absolutely love alliteration names! Freddie Fisher is a winner for me!

Tillygetsit · 14/09/2020 22:43

Freddie Fisher is a great name.

Edenember · 15/09/2020 14:04

Love it

FizzingWhizzbee123 · 15/09/2020 17:38

It sounds a little bit like something out of Horrid Henry, but I don’t think it’s terrible either. If you love Freddie, I think you could get away with it.

beinggood · 15/09/2020 20:23

I have a Fred Fisher in my family tree , born 1850, it's great.

IckleBear · 15/09/2020 20:27

I think it depends, sometimes it's nice sometimes it isn't.. Freddie Fisher sounds great!

Lilice · 15/09/2020 22:41

Sounds lovely

sibbys · 16/09/2020 00:11

Sounds great! Stick to that

sorryforswearing · 16/09/2020 00:29

It’s personal taste. I hate alliterative names although I could live with names starting with same letter if the sound was different. Eg, Charles Carmichael. Even then I wouldn’t chose it.

LittleTiger007 · 16/09/2020 15:42

It works, I think it sounds great.

Fisher1008 · 16/09/2020 20:36

Thanks everyone for your input! I think if little one is a boy he’ll definitely be Frederick Casper Fisher 🥰

Personally I’d use Alfred or Wilfred as the “official” name. Although Freddie as a nickname is fine with an alliterative surname.

Fisher1008 · 16/09/2020 20:44

@HainaultViaNewburyPark we absolutely love Alfred and we love both Alf & Fred as nn but don’t like Alfie.

Although we could dictate what we call him I think it’ll be inevitable that he’d end up getting called Alfie by others?
