Jesse.

Is it a marmite name? Any thoughts?

I've known two males called Jesse, one was a great, hulking but very jolly farmer and the other was a lad I taught who was the nicest, kindest boy, so I'd say go for it!

Love it

FizzyGreenWater · 24/08/2020 11:48

Yes it's great. Probably slightly marmite, but not really, especially as its becoming more popular.

@Pippilangstrumpfie

That is like saying you cannot nickname a boy Joe because it sounds like Jo Confused

Love it and know a couple. They never get any negative feedback thart I've heard

I know a Jesse in his 30s. It was very unusual at the time but his father is American which probably goes some way to explain it (English mother).

Absolutely adore the name Jesse !! 😍 (but then again, I love Marmite too 😂)

Enko · 28/08/2020 10:13

marmite name for sure and I am a firm no

pooopypants · 28/08/2020 10:46

Love marmite

Not sure on Jesse, when spelled that way. Too American for me.

Call your baby Marmite. Please?

Sunflowers24 · 28/08/2020 11:05

I only know it spelled Jessie.

Sounds like a nickname for Jessica or Jessamine.

Sausagedog1 · 28/08/2020 13:02

I love it it's one of my favourites, but I think it's a name women tend to love and men tend to hate (just my anecdotal experience from asking for opinions)
It's soft and feminine with a surfer vibe, my DH said he would hate to be called Jesse and wouldn't even consider it. A few other men I asked said similar. I think this might change a bit as it's now more popular.

monkeyonthetable · 28/08/2020 13:04

I love it. Classic biblical name.

ittooshallpass · 28/08/2020 13:55

It's a no from me. Can't believe how many people have never heard of the 'you big Jessie' insult. It's definitely alive and kicking in my area. In response to someone up thread; it doesn't originate off Breaking Bad.

I think it's an unfair name to give to a boy. It's 50/50 whether he'd be able to carry it off. Like Beau or Grace... you have to be careful.
