What would you DC be called?

My partner had her heart set on Scarlett for upcoming DD but I couldn’t be swayed no matter how hard I tried to like the name.

For a boy - Leo. I used to be a nanny for a boy called Leo who is by far the most, difficult? child I’ve ever come across in 31 years of living so I just couldn’t shake it 😅

Prinstress · 11/08/2020 11:34

Zelda. Apparently not after the video game but Robin Williams daughter... big fat no from me.

Zebulon and Arcturis.

chunkyrun · 11/08/2020 11:39

We'd have a Rio

FelicityPike · 11/08/2020 11:44

Dd would’ve been Rebecca.

BeingATwatItsABingThing · 11/08/2020 11:49

My DH luckily liked the name I’d had my heart set on for DD1 since I was a teen. DD2 is due in a few weeks and we agreed straight away on her first name. I chose his sister’s name for a middle name (she died as a baby) but he didn’t want that. Fair enough. We chose a selection of middle names that go nicely with the first name we’ve chosen and I let him choose. He’s also chosen the spelling. DD’s middle name will be Rey (yes, he loves Star Wars).

For a boy, we came unstuck. He wanted Michael and I said absolutely no. I said Jesse and he said absolutely no. We eventually agreed on one together. He did suggest Owen Hmm but that was a strong no from me. Luckily, we haven’t had to decide properly on a boy’s name or there may have been divorce. Grin

Whatsyourflava · 11/08/2020 17:26

I love some of these partner /DH names!

Dylan

Tillygetsit · 11/08/2020 22:38

Boy Xerxes Hmm
Girl Cassia. So relieved when we had a dd she is indeed called Cassia!

micc · 12/08/2020 07:35

My OH is set on the name Christopher... not my style and not that offensive. But the last name is Cross!! I refuse to call my child Chris Cross!!! He keeps suggesting it! So does his dad, hilarious but I am the voice of reason here.

He also like Scarlett, but I wasnt keen either. I dont hate it I just dont like it enough! Oh and yes he also suggested Christine..

Ragwort · 12/08/2020 07:40

Fortunately we agreed on both choices for our first (& only) child (didn't know if we were having a boy or girl), the only thing my DH stipulated was that he didn't want to use a family name to 'honour' any of our relatives .... fortunately he never knew my beloved grandfather and hadn't remembered his name ..... Grin.

vampirethriller · 12/08/2020 07:41

Abel, because he has a son called Cain.
Thankfully for our baby she's a girl and he left so I chose her name.

Wowcherarestalkingme · 12/08/2020 07:42

He chose DS1s name which I also loved. For DS2 he wanted Ben Jr to be named after him. No child should be known as BJ so I chose DS2s name.

DoTheMaccaroni · 12/08/2020 09:02

Boy - Aurelius (I wasn’t massively against this but I’d never actually use it!
Girl - Azelea (I love it but preferred others)

Luckily my OH has pretty much the same wild taste in names as me Grin

CornedBeef451 · 12/08/2020 09:04

@aprilfools19 he even convinced everyone in his office and our closest friends she was called Padme for the first week of her life until he relented and told the truth. I worry there might still be some people out there who think we have a little Padme.

We do have cats called Chewie and Leia though.

CornedBeef451 · 12/08/2020 09:07

@iloveyoubutilovememore I misread yours as boy - Ferret.

Worryingly it didn't seem that unusual.

Mumoftwo1994 · 12/08/2020 09:17

@whiteroseredrose

Winston or Nelson for DS and Genghis (?) for DD - before we knew she was a girl.
Wow Ghenhis is a strong name, did you got for it?
Iminaglasscaseofemotion · 12/08/2020 09:30

We hate currently having no 3, but don't know what we are having yet. His suggestion for a girl was Chantelle Confused I'm not sure how serious he was, but going by some of the names in his family, there's a good chance he was.

Bananalanacake · 12/08/2020 12:00

I love the "children are not billboards for your fandom" FB group. Dp wanted to call dd B'E'Lanna, but it got altered to something more normal.

Crunchymum · 12/08/2020 13:05

We agreed on our DS name and my DP also found both our DD names (all of which I loved instantly and still do!) but some of his suggestions for girls were a bit Shock

Our 5yo could have been a Shannon on a Joanne if left to him !!
