Did you not want a girl then?

MrsEricBana · 15/07/2020 00:32

I genuinely didn't know Spencer could be a girls' name. I think Meredith falls into this category and I like it. Of yours I like Andie best. (But none of the femininisations such as Nigella, Kevina etc)

Buttybach · 15/07/2020 00:32

I met a girl named Rowan once and it really suited her

Aquilla is a boys name but suits a girl

Afon

Tigger03 · 15/07/2020 00:34

Freddie? (Fredrica)
Bobbie? (Roberta)
George? (Georgina)
Frankie (Francesca)

The above all give nice boy / girl options. Of your list I like Andie the best, but would go for Andrea officially.

I like 'boyish' or unisex names for girls. Alex is my favourite but Stevie is also great. I know two women called Jamie, one goes by Jamie and the other Jay. Jude, Finn and Rae could also work.

RainbowMum11 · 15/07/2020 02:39

A lot of girls names are based on boys (or the other way round!)
Alexandra / Alexander
Georgina / George
Henrietta / Henry
Harriet / Harry
Paula / Paul
Pauline / Paul
Olivia or Olive / Oliver

Etc etc

RainbowMum11 · 15/07/2020 02:40

Or Hilary - that's a unisex name, as is Leslie.

RainbowMum11 · 15/07/2020 02:44

**blues

Alex, Sam, Chris, Charlie I see as boys names - but might suit a certain type of girl if she can pull it off if. These are what spring to mind when you say “boys names for girls”.

The only people I know with these names are 'girls' - they might be shortened versions, as they could be if they were male, but this proves my previous post.

octoberfarm · 15/07/2020 02:44

I like Dylan. Could Noa (without the H) be an option?

tripletsss · 15/07/2020 02:49

Dillan not Dylan
Charlie
Frankie
Taylor
A lot of American names are very unisex and different

lukasiak · 15/07/2020 04:58

@Tillygetsit

I've got to be honest OP. I hate them. There are plenty of non frilly girls names. I bet you wouldn't give a boy a traditional girl's name. Why is that?
I have a daughter with a boys name (Cory), and two sons with what I'm told are girl names (Kiah and Morgan), so some of us would Grin
Whatsyourflava · 15/07/2020 07:43

I know a little girl called Noah with an H
And a girl called James

I like the names

SauvignonBlanketyBlank · 15/07/2020 07:49

Stevie is the nicest.I like Sydney/Sidney and Frankie for a girl too

romannumerals · 15/07/2020 07:53

Tough crowd 😬

@Whatsyourflava can I just check if you're referring to my original list that you like? Or the others suggested in the responses? Thank you. I too like James but we like it for either sex.

No we don't want a boy. I just love the sound of the uni sex names, typically used on boys on a girl. I love Sidney too thanks @SauvignonBlanketyBlank

I had a call with a man called Teddy who turned out to be a lady. A very nice one. However, before naming your daughter, do think of how her name may be perceived in a corporate/work capacity. I think a name like Teddy would be fine if birth certificate name was Theodora or Charlie if BC was Charlotte etc.

Mish85 · 15/07/2020 08:29

I know a little girl Stevie, I think it's great! And I think Drew would work well too. Go for it!

Louise0701 · 15/07/2020 08:32

Robyn?

romannumerals · 15/07/2020 08:37

Thanks all.

Her daddy is called Andrew, hence the Drew/Andie. Drew and Stevie are our faves

romannumerals · 15/07/2020 08:39

Ps he goes by neither, just Andrew.

Drew is my favourite from your list and nice link to your husbands name too

Louise0701 · 15/07/2020 09:11

Not a boys name but I thought similar to Drew; what about Wren?

Blues1985 · 15/07/2020 09:15

@RainbowMum11 I think as girls names now, they are quite uncommon compared to boys (eg Alexander more popular than Alexandra, or Christopher more than Christine).

I also think they are too masculine for a girl, same with Jo(e) and possibly some of the other “ie” names (Ollie, Bobbie etc) in my opinion. There’s also something quite tacky about tacking a traditional male name like Robert or David and just sticking an “a” on the end to make it feminine. Plus it never happens vice versa with a traditional girls name being changed up through letters into a boys name.

eatsleepbreastfeedrepeat · 15/07/2020 09:22

I love Logan for a girl
