Just that really. My husband and I think it's super adorable but also works for a girl in her teens and as an adult.
I think it's a classic name but am worried others will say it's dated? Any (not too critical) opinions would be great Smile

Are your children’s vaccines up to date?

NamiSwan love the NN ren!

I don't mind people disliking the name but when people use really awful terms like townie or chavy/down-market I have to say I find this really obnoxious and a bit disheartening.

It's nice but I do think it's a bit dated (I would assume someone aged between 15 and 30)

I prefer Laura and feel it's a little more timeless

Paddingtonthebear · 09/07/2020 22:19

It’s a little dated. But when it was fashionable it was “Laura” that was dated.

Lana is lovely

Chickenwing · 09/07/2020 22:21

I love Lauren. Really dislike Laura but biased because I have never met a nice one.

PintOfGin · 09/07/2020 22:21

I like Lauren but hate Laura

Therreallauren · 09/07/2020 22:23

NC for this!

I’m a Lauren and I’m 45. I never met another one growing up, but it did become popular as a baby name when I was in my mid teens to 20. How nice to discover that some posters think it’s’chavvy’.

MikeUniformMike · 09/07/2020 22:26

Thereallauren, it was the popularity that made is seem downmarket.

SmiledWithTheRisingSun · 09/07/2020 22:26

Love it.

MondeoFan · 09/07/2020 22:28

I know a 38 year old Lauren and a 15 year old one.
I think it's a bit wet but it is totally useable.
Laura is hideous I can't understand PPs preferring Laura over Lauren

SephrinaX · 09/07/2020 22:29

Another Lauren here. I was the only one in my school and I've only met one other (I'm in my 30s)

There were at least 6 Laura's in my school and have met lots since. So wouldn't go for that.

I like my name though Smile

I think it's quite of its time and much more my generation than now. I don't dislike it but I much prefer Laura then Lara over it.

It's one of those names where you wouldn't know a single person in say their 50s called it so it definitely has a dated feel. Much like I don't know any young people called Pauline for eg.

Carouselfish · 09/07/2020 22:46

It's fine. Friendly. Not interesting but fine.

blosstree · 09/07/2020 22:57

Lots of Laurens during my time at school in the 2000s. I don't like it, it doesn't have the classic feel of Laura. I really like Laurel as well

boon · 09/07/2020 23:04

I love it xx

Justjoshin22 · 09/07/2020 23:10

I like it. I prefer Lara and Laura (in that order) but it’s still a nice name x

Fred578 · 09/07/2020 23:16

Lovely name. I prefer the spelling Lauryn though

Runkle · 09/07/2020 23:21

Dated and not in a classic way. I think of that awful Goodger woman and am I bovvered.

123Dancewithme · 09/07/2020 23:46

Very 90s, and definitely not classic. Although, surprisingly, I know a Lauren in her 60s.

BinkyBoinky · 10/07/2020 00:17

Too common

Allmyeye · 10/07/2020 01:09

It isn’t common. Think I’ve had two in many years of teaching. Most recent one this year. She is 6.

Alongcameacat · 10/07/2020 03:01

I know a twelve year old Lauren. She is very nice.

Its not a classic name though. I think its dated tbh.

I'm not a fan of Laura either but if I had to be called Laura or Lauren, I'd choose Laura. I associate Lauren with the Catherine Tate gum chewing Lauren impressions.

jessstan2 · 10/07/2020 05:08

I agree with Alongcameacat, Laura is a classic name, Lauren is manufactured and, depending on your definition of 'common', it is, along with Joanne, Kelly and Samantha.

beautifulmonument · 10/07/2020 05:34

I like it

zingally · 10/07/2020 12:05

I like it!

I know a couple of Lauren's but they are all around 30+ now.

I don't know any little Lauren's.

It's one of those names that everyone knows, but isn't much used at the moment. And the nickname Laurie is cute as well.

I think if I was doing babies again, Lauren would probably be in my top 20.
