Crazy names you didn’t use?

Oh, is mine a list to be judged. Grin

For my 1st, I fully admit I shouldn’t have been allowed to name a cat, let alone a child. She narrowly avoided being called Keilani Aqua.

I hang my head in shame.

My 2nd escaped any really dodgy possibilities, lucky thing.

My 3rd......Well on the list were Scipio, Zealand and Rockford. I hadn’t learned my lesson from number 1.

Not saying I don’t still like them, but I know now they shouldn’t have been on the list!

What names did you have on The List, that you look back and think ‘How was I THAT crazy?’ Grin

The first name I suggested to my DH when we found out I was expecting was Wilder. He was horrified and I was embarrassed when his first suggestions were Charlotte and James.
Luckily we managed to settle on something in the middle.

ihoeihoeihoe · 19/06/2020 13:46

My son is called Maverick Grin

It’s not for everyone and we fully understand that. If I listened to what everyone else wanted I’d have a very common George or Jack and although nice, aren’t for me!

Other names that were slightly unusual that made the list were Ace, Bernie, Dax and Ernie.

If he was to be a girl, he would of been Maggie!

@greengoose21b

Oh *@furryknox* me too. Actually, I was also considering Violanthe. Violanthe September to be precise.
Violanthe September reminds me of a school shooting 🙈
stonecoasters · 19/06/2020 13:56

I had Spud on my boys list!

stonecoasters · 19/06/2020 13:56

And Bean

xmummy2princesx · 19/06/2020 13:58

Mowgli and Moses I loved and Anakin. Still sort of wished I went with AnakinAngry

Narrows · 19/06/2020 13:58

Are you in north London by any chance, @ihoeihoeihoe? I had a (very premature) Maverick and an Ace in my NCT group, and I met a baby Dax at a coffee morning. I also met twins called Buzz and Ferdinand.

RUOKHon · 19/06/2020 14:00

Fox and Spike.

Went for something very safe and sensible in the end.

stonecoasters · 19/06/2020 14:01

Ah I love unusual names so much!

meow1989 · 19/06/2020 14:01

Fox, wolf, bear!

Also Ira, which dh really liked until.i pointed out my dads Northern Irish heritage...

stonecoasters · 19/06/2020 14:02

@meow1989 I had Wolf, Tiger and Berdie on my list - I went with Bear!

Wither · 19/06/2020 14:04

I know a baby Maverick. It seems like a big name to live up to. I mean, what if they aren’t?

meow1989 · 19/06/2020 14:05

@stonecoasters I maintain that all of those names are excellent choices, dh was the one who vetoed!

stonecoasters · 19/06/2020 14:06

@meow1989 haha my DH tried. My vagina - my choice.

FightMilkTM · 19/06/2020 14:11

My husband liked Olympia for a girl.

I loved (still do!) Wolfgang (nn Wolfie) for a boy, one of my friends used Wolfgang as a middle name since I was pregnant though so I ‘can’t’ have it now anyway. Sad

MrsCrosbyNRTB · 19/06/2020 14:14

I really wanted Topaz for a girl.

Luckily I had a boy. still like it though

BabyLlamaZen · 19/06/2020 14:14

As a teenager, Bubbles and Posy were on there 😳

Angel2702 · 19/06/2020 14:14

My friends were horrified when I was pregnant with my daughter, had she been a boy she would have been Herbert.

FightMilkTM · 19/06/2020 14:16

Just remembered that I loved Nigel and Brian for boys! (My baby was born 2019 Blush)

SecretWitch · 19/06/2020 14:19

I really loved the name Jezebel.

Vetoed both times for my daughters.

Namechange8471 · 19/06/2020 14:29

I was going to call my son Brent.

Thank god I had a girl!

Flyingarcher · 19/06/2020 14:36

Seth - couldn't have it due to our surname.
Wulfric so he could be Woolfie for short
Bartholomew - I love this name but can't have it coz of Bart Simpson.
Lawrence - not daft but didn't make it to the cut.
Husband wanted Rowland - just no. Rolly poly

thefamousfiveplusone · 19/06/2020 14:44

I LOVE unusual names!

Blossom was always a contender although wasn't used for either of my two daughters.

We have a Wren and we get nothing but positive reactions to her name.

AragornsManlyStubble · 19/06/2020 15:04

Flying

My ferret is Bartholomew!

Axel. As in Axel Bangert. If we were even vaguely Germanic we’d have gone for it, and it’s still a possibility if we have another boy. Yorkshire will just have to cope.
