Argo

What are your thoughts on this name? I quite like vibe of the very popular Arlo but I think it's too common now

I do know it could be very much linked to the Argo film and the whole situation but do you think it's still usable or an absolute no?

I met a little boy called Tino yesterday (short for Konstantin).

spacelab · 15/06/2020 01:00

Where are you based OP, and are you staying there? If it’s somewhere with very different naming traditions some names might make more sense there than the UK.
Cosmo is another o ending name I like?

Daisydoesnt · 15/06/2020 08:59

Oh god not Pico - that's far too like pica which is what dogs do when they eat sh*t and other things that aren't really food. Urgh

PrincessHoneysuckle · 15/06/2020 09:02

Ye I thought catalogue shop as soon as I saw it sorry.

vampirethriller · 15/06/2020 09:04

I know an Argo and it suits him, his mother is Greek though.

IckleBear · 15/06/2020 09:04

Otis?
Cosmo?

TenThousandSpoons · 15/06/2020 09:12

Just use Arlo if you like it. Argo is horrid. If you’re not in UK maybe Arlo is not as popular there?
I also like Rocco, Nico and my favourite is Jago.
Cosmo - too posh
Franco - bad connotations
Pico - sounds quite nice but pp’s explanation of dogs eating shit put me off
Jericho - no

bridgetreilly · 15/06/2020 09:13

It's not a name for a person.

How about Iago?

TenThousandSpoons · 15/06/2020 09:14

Otto
Matteo
Draco? Grin

milienhaus · 15/06/2020 09:17

I second Iago! Roughly the same sound anyway and a recognisable name.

I also like Nico, Marco, Ivo, Milo from previous lists.

5lilducks · 15/06/2020 09:18

Sorry Op but it reminds me of the line "Argo f* yourself" from the movie Argo.

CodenameVillanelle · 15/06/2020 09:22

Are you in the uk? If so, Argo and Pico really don't work.
Franco, Rocco and Nico are nice. Tiago is ok but doesn't work with the Th (in the U.K. as I'm assuming you're there or you would have said)
Jericho is far too out there.

minniebinnie · 15/06/2020 09:29

I know an Arno

BuffaloCauliflower · 15/06/2020 10:22

@CodenameVillanelle she said on page one that she’s not based in the UK

Nanalisa60 · 15/06/2020 10:27

Mumski45

That’s exactly I thought , my DH still says that a lot Ar-go-F**k yourself
Very good film

Oops Blush

kenandbarbie · 15/06/2020 10:55

Theo,
Leo,
Milo
Nico

I like all of those.

Where are you based? What are the popular o ending names there?

Does pico mean small?

sweetnosugar · 15/06/2020 10:59

I’m not a fan.
However use Arlo if you like it! It’s not going to popular everywhere.
Otherwise Theo is a lovely ‘o’ ending name to keep to your theme.

raskolnikova · 16/06/2020 00:00

I also immediately thought of the line Argo fu*k yourself.

Please don't call your child Franco either, would you want to be the namesake of a Fascist dictator?

ToyKitchenSink · 16/06/2020 00:26

Argo reminds me of the film and also the Greek myth of Jason and the Argonauts. It's a no from me.

Bouncingbelle · 16/06/2020 04:17

I read it and thought Argos.

Pico made me think of pcos and pica, neither of which is a good image for a name!

Bouncingbelle · 16/06/2020 04:18

But I do like Franco, despite the whole fascist dictator link.

Otto?

chickadeedeedee · 16/06/2020 04:24

Argos.

I love Arlo and Arno.
