Aurelia Evelyn

Evelyn is after my grandmother but I would use Eve if it followed better - not sure which is best.

Thoughts?

Both lovely names. How will you pronounce Aurelia, out of curiosity? I have heard different pronunciations!

Igtg · 02/06/2020 13:45

It’s lovely but quite difficult to say.

Prettylittlelady · 02/06/2020 13:58

@olivo will be using the Or Ray lia way and thought she could use Ray as nickname if she wanted too x

It's lovely. If you like it, that's all that matters though.

olivo · 02/06/2020 14:03

I would go with the full Evelyn ( eve lin? Or ev lin pronunciation?) sorry, I always ask about pronunciation, there is so much variation. As I teacher, I have got it wrong so many times!, it's a minefield!

Prettylittlelady · 02/06/2020 14:35

@olivo Eve-lin
I’m also a teacher and I’ve never come across an Aurelia, one of the reasons why I think I’m going to go for it!

I absolutely love your choices @Prettylittlelady

Perfect!

TheBlueStocking · 02/06/2020 14:45

Very nice name

MadameJosephine · 02/06/2020 14:52

Gorgeous, I love it

olivo · 02/06/2020 14:53

Yes, unusual, I have only ever known one . She was ow-raylia. Both your names are really pretty.

IncrediblySadToo · 02/06/2020 15:00

Will you be bothered by people, like me, who pronounced it differently?

Or Ee Lia

I'd try to pronounce it your way if I heard you say it, but it wouldn't be my natural way

I'd go with Evelyn. Eve does go easier, but it's not like it's something you use all the time and it's your Grandmothers name

Igtg · 02/06/2020 15:10

I didn’t know it was pronounced Or-ray-lia.

Prettylittlelady · 02/06/2020 15:36

@IncrediblySadToo I wouldn’t be bothered initially at all because it’s a name that has more than one acceptable pronunciation but after someone was introduced etc I would be as I think it rude not to make an effort to say someone name correctly!

@Igtg Yes. There are a few different accepted ways of saying it.

Definitely use Evelyn not Eve as its lovely it's your grandmas name. First names will be used 99% of the time anyway so I wouldn't focus on what flows best. Use the name with meaning to you

Mucklowe · 02/06/2020 15:50

"Oh, really? A..."

LotusClover · 02/06/2020 16:01

Aurelia Evelyn is lovely ♡

Minkies13 · 02/06/2020 16:26

I love both names. I really wanted DD1 to be Aurelia but my husband vetoed it sadly

Ellmau · 02/06/2020 19:07

I think either is fine. Aurelia is beautiful!

Spirali · 02/06/2020 19:38

I love it! It was the 1st front runner for my DD. We liked Ray or Raya as a nickname and would have been the same pronunciation as you’ve wrote.

thenamesarealltaken · 02/06/2020 19:53

Lovely, but she will be called Aur-ee-lia a lot as that seems more natural based on the spelling, Aurelia. Auralia is Au-ray-lia ... your choice. Interesting name though.. Hope she likes it. Evelyn is a good second name too.

katherine332 · 02/06/2020 20:04

I would go with full Evelyn. Sounds pretty decent.
