What do you think of Parisa? It is a Persian name meaning Fairy-like, and fits our background. It is quite a well known name in our culture but I wonder how it will be perceived by others? It is pronounced Paree- Sah. What are your initial thoughts when you see this name? Pretty or absolutely awful? Honest opinions please!

Shirin, Ziba? Or something floral?

Flashinggreen · 21/05/2020 21:15

I know a Parisa, pretty name

Lordfrontpaw · 21/05/2020 21:16

Rose. Short and sweet.

begoniapot · 21/05/2020 21:18

I love it. Pretty and unusual, but not freaky! A rare feat.

onetwothreeadventure · 21/05/2020 21:25

I know someone with the name and I absolutely adore it!

badg3r · 21/05/2020 21:27

I like it! And guessed the spelling correctly!

VioletVerity · 21/05/2020 21:29

Absolutely love Parisa, never heard of it before but it's a really beautiful name.

FelicityBeedle · 21/05/2020 21:32

Parisa is absolutely gorgeous. I never comment on here but had to pop in and say so. Personally I prefer family names for middle names, anyone you’d like to ‘honour’

Leila2020 · 21/05/2020 22:39

Thank you so much everyone! Wow I am taken aback by how much you all love the name, I was expecting some very harsh comments! 😮 So happy see!

Middle name options
Parisa Noor
Parisa Sofia (family name)
Parisa Faria (family name)

I can’t really think of any other ones at the moment, especially not any one syllable names.
I don’t like jasmine or Rose because Parisa already means fairy, so a flower name will be a bit too girly I think...

My DD is called Parisa, my DH is Iranian. Everyone has always commented on what a beautiful name it is

ChaoticAnna · 21/05/2020 22:49

I personally would pair Parisa with a name ending in a because I think it can be a bit hard to say, but I find the name Parisa so pretty and fitting with your background. Go with something you love because ultimately you’ll be the ones saying it hundreds of times each day!

ChaoticAnna · 21/05/2020 22:49

Sorry wouldn’t* (autocorrect!)

ozymandiusking · 21/05/2020 23:02

Parisa Rose sounds beautiful together. Parisa is lovely.

Lordfrontpaw · 21/05/2020 23:02

Not a fan of Noor (not Persian anyway) but like Sofia though. It kind of rolls off the tongue.

123Dancewithme · 21/05/2020 23:25

I love Parisa! Great choice.

Weedsnseeds1 · 21/05/2020 23:34

Azar, meaning flame

Leila2020 · 21/05/2020 23:57

Thank you for all the input, all really useful advice and I’ve got a lot to think about! I’m tempted to go for Parisa Sofia but I know it is quite a mouthful, Sofia has a personal connection to me, name of an important family member, but the length of the two names together is slightly putting me off... What do you think?

FelicityBeedle · 22/05/2020 00:47

I really love Parisa Faria, I don’t think it’s that hard to say. My frist middle name and first name both end with A and it’s really not an issue

Leila2020 · 22/05/2020 01:40

Felicity that’s reassuring! Most good names end in “a” so it’s pretty difficult to avoid anyway, I’ll just go for the middle name that is meaningful even if it ends in an “a”, otherwise I’ll end up choosing a name which I don’t like as the middle name, just for the sake of it “sounding right”.

Lovely name. I know a Parisa, nickname is Pari

Kokeshi123 · 22/05/2020 03:11

I would wonder if it's "Pareeza" or "Pareessa"---but it's very pretty. Go for it!

florababy84 · 22/05/2020 03:32

What about Parisa Sofie?

NotTheOnlyPomInTheVillage · 22/05/2020 04:18

I also know a Parisa, nn Pari.

What about Parisa Amira? Fairy princess 😁.

Lordfrontpaw · 22/05/2020 08:00

You don’t often use middle names anyways and - in my experience - it’s not the norm in Iran.
