What’s your favourite baby girls name?

Hiya! I know name threads are frowned upon but I had a baby girl over 24 hours ago and we still have no name.

We had hoped that with our short list when she arrived we would just know what’s right but instead we don’t like anything we have chosen.

I don’t like flowery to girly names, I like names that our child won’t be ashamed to write on her cv at 21 so no ‘angel’ sorry to those who have that.

I really like Brinley but my partner isn’t a fan and he likes everlyn which I don’t like as I feel it’s an old ladies name 😂

Any favourite names?

I've always loved Adeline Smile it has French roots and means noble/nobility.

Congratulations! Have you chosen something yet? I rather like Brinley - haven’t heard that before. I don’t like flowery names either. I had Lennox on my girl’s list, but DP said no. I like the masculine sound. I also like Ingrid, Greta, Gerta, Loveday, Vida, Hero.

No suggestions but I would just add to take your time and don’t feel pressurised into choosing a name before you are sure.

When I was pregnant with DD I had a small list of names with 2 favourites I loved, but decided to wait until she was born and I could see which one she suited best.

Well when she was born I decided she didn’t actually suit any of the names on the list and spent the few days of her life racking our brains for a name, feeling under more and more pressure as she was nameless with people constantly asking.

I decided on a name that I’d considered for a girl when I had been pregnant with Ds, some 9 years earlier and just let DP choose her middle name.

As the hormones settled and she lost the freshly new born look and started to develop a little personality, I could have kicked myself because she really suited my favourite name from the original list and still does Confused I stuck with the name we chose because I felt like I couldn’t change it after making people wait so long (in reality less than a week). I do like her name now because it’s her name, but I still look at her and think dam you suit the other names so much better Blush

Brinley is nice and unusual. I like Evelyn too.

If I had another girl, she'd be Anna or Anastasia.

SpillTheTeaa · 21/05/2020 23:46

My short list for girls were:
Dakota
Delilah-Rose
Tallulah

I won't list my favourite one as it is very unusual and would be very outing as people in RL know my chosen girls name 😬

Brinley was my Grandad’s name, but he was lovely so go for it if you like it.

I’m quite keen on flower and nature names myself and also names which can be used four a boy or a girl.
