Tigerlily

Has anyone used it? Would it be better as just Tigerlily or Tiger as a first and Lily as a middle. I've recently fallen for this name but I don't know if I'm brave enough to use it. Haven't even mentioned it to DH as I'm still trying to decide how I feel about it.

You would have to be very brave to use it...!

I think going for ‘Lily’ and then using Tigerlily as a nickname is a better bet. Tigerlily would be such a difficult name to work with. I can’t imagine it on a sensible job application. What if she grows up to be an accountant or a lawyer?

twinkledag · 18/05/2020 15:19

Pmsl only on mumsnet would someone give the name Primrose as an alternative to Tiger Lily! 😂

bellbeast · 18/05/2020 15:26

I think it's a lovely name. But probably just a phase, and I'd probably regret it a year later.

I want to like it, y'know your baby your choice etc etc, but...I sort of expect to see the name in the credits of a porno. Or, if she's a big star, in the title of a porno. Incidentally, do such movies have credits? I've never seen a feature-length film 😂

It's a no from me. As others said, if you want to be that special and unusual change your own name. You'd have to be mega rich and live in a total bubble for that name to work. Or in the above.

Midnightdream · 18/05/2020 21:07

I know a tiger lily shes around 5. I think it suits her Grin

PersonaNonGarter · 18/05/2020 21:08

Love it

Carouselfish · 18/05/2020 22:16

Chavvy? Better tell JM Barrie! Why not OP. I always say, give them an interesting and memorable name, that way, if they're a terrible bore at least they'll be remembered for something. Whereas a boring Olivia/Amelia? Background.

Ineedabreak19 · 18/05/2020 23:44

It sounds like a brand of sex toys, please don't call your daughter this.

TARSCOUT · 18/05/2020 23:49

Sorry but that's awful, a bit like what's your porn name, first cat and your mums name type thing.

WinWinnieTheWay · 18/05/2020 23:53

Excellent make for a cat!

I'd secretly think that the parents were a bit thick. I'm not unkind and I'd be happy to be proved wrong, but my honest response would not be positive.

WithIcePlease · 19/05/2020 00:08

Two at my DD school
Go by tiger and tiggi

twilightcafe · 19/05/2020 00:15

I've got a cat called Tiger-Lily. It suits her but I can't imagine a person over the age of 3 with that name.

RainMustFall · 19/05/2020 00:30

Poor child.

YourWinter · 19/05/2020 00:51

Oh please don't, it's a ridiculous name. Get a doll if you want to choose daft names, children don't like having silly names, or names they have to either spell, explain, or apologise for.

AmICrazyorWhat2 · 19/05/2020 00:55

Lily is pretty, Tigerlily not so much.

I think Iris is also gorgeous for a flower name, irises are out now and they're so beautiful.

Packamack · 19/05/2020 07:23

The 'It's just a flower name' argument doesn't hold water, and the posters advancing it should be forced to call their next child Antirrhinum.

Cyberworrier · 19/05/2020 07:32

I knew a child called Tigerlilly. Luckily for her, she was bright, confident and generally lovely (and beautiful). Imagine the average child burdened with the name, or an awkward, shy child...
Very risky OP. And justTiger truly would be awful.

User68953378975 · 19/05/2020 22:39

I love it, beautiful name. I have a friend called Tigerlily, although she goes by the name Lily.

Mangofandangoo · 19/05/2020 22:44

It's pretty but honestly I feel it will hold her back as an adult especially at work.

BernardsarenotalwaysSaints · 19/05/2020 22:49

It's my cats name. We shorten it to Tiggle a lot. Do you like the nn Tiggle?

Cheesypea · 19/05/2020 22:53

Sounds like the name of a pub.

threesecrets · 19/05/2020 22:56

Keep it as a nickname

SoleBizzz · 19/05/2020 23:13

No

IndiaMay · 22/05/2020 12:47

I love it! I would call them Tiger as a child for a nickname. There is always the option go go as Lily when they are older / need a more 'professional' name for a job (although I know plenty of people in professional jobs with unusual names. Including a lawyer called Coco)
